| 03/12/2006 | After a week of hard fought battle, Floyd Landis has won the 64th edition of Paris Nice. La Course au Soleil finished today on the Promenade des Anglais with a rolling stage that included 3 climbs, in which the Phonak team was never really threatened. Under the watchful care of Phonak teammates Moos, Merckx, Moorenhout, Jalabert and Elmiger; Landis was able to ride safely along the Med coast knowing that the hard work was behind him. In his words, “the team was excellent, we just stomped,” Floyd gleamed. A group of 5 escaped and contested the finish with Gerolsteiner’s Markus Zberg coming out on top. Landis rolled in with his teammates nearly 30 seconds down, enjoying congratulatory pats on the back from admiring colleagues in the bunch.
