| 05/29/2001 | Torelli Express CarbonTorelli's third generation Express will be very shortly available. The Express Carbon combines the snappy liveliness and response of state-of the-art steel with a lightweight, vibration-damping carbon wishbone.
Materials The steel is a proprietary Torelli/Nemo 747 made by Columbus. The Nivachrome oversize main tubes are round, and drawn to 0.4mm wall thickness, the current limit of steel tubing technology. This tubeset is truly special. Frames built with tubes drawn to 0.4mm have a special smooth, buttery ride. To learn more about this tubing, please click here.
The carbon wishbone is a special system designed for steel frames, being of a lighter and slimmer design than those made for aluminum frames. They can supply a steel Nivachrome steel fork with a full-sloping Pavesi fork crown, a Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon fork, Columbus carbon Carve fork or a Columbus carbon Muscle fork.
Construction The steel joints are Tig welded. The wishbone is bonded to a steel socket that is brazed to the back of the seat tube. The brake routing is split, interrupted rear brake cable for lighter weight and crisper braking. The frame has head tube ergo bosses.
