Daytona dropped. Ciao Centaur!

Daytona dropped. Ciao Centaur! Finally Campagnolo has decided to leave the drop the Daytona name due to trademark problems. In 1990, Campagnolo introduced a MtB componentry called Centaur that was supposed to be a large selling item. But it did not sell as good as the Italian company expected.

Some rumours say that Campagnolo will use now all the useless Centaur printed boxes that have remained in inventort since then. Does such a large company stock useless boxes for more than ten years? If it is true we congratulate Campagnolo for their contribution to avoid the forest devastation.

We have found a Bianchi bicycle called SL-AL that already features a Centaur 10 speed groupo, so it is clear that this is the name that has been chosen to replace Daytona. As long as we know after contacting Campagnolo’s Spanish office, there are not major changes from Daytona. Other sources informed that some units identical to 2001 Daytona are being produced under the new denomination, and those novelties thought for 2002 Daytona will be manufactured using the Centaur name.
