| 06/09/2001 | Lithuania Fights Traffic with BikesLithuania is trying to fight traffic problems with free bicycles. According to Reuters the city has put 500 bicycles around the city for free use. The idea is that anyone can use the bikes as long as they leave the it for others after they finish their ride.
Lithuania is following other cities including Amsterdam, Portland Oregon, and Joensuu Russia. In each of these programs the bikes get stolen, abused, and lost within a couple of months.
Good luck to Lithuania with their program! |
