| 06/20/2001 | Teenager Dies in Collision with Ice Cream TruckCody Simon Wyrick, a 14 year old boy living in Plant City, Floriday was struck and killed by a neighborhood ice cream truck on Monday night. Despite a city ordinance that requires cyclists under 16 to wear a helmet, Cody was not wearing nor did his bicycle have any lights.
The driver was charged not charged and alcohol was not involved. Seven children ages 5 to 15 in Florida died in 2000 from bicycle-related injuries, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.www.sptimes.com
