| 07/07/2001 | New Bikes from Rocky MountainRocky Mountain has introduced two new models of mountain bikes for 2002: the Carve and the Switch.
The Carve features the same frame 3D Link technology and suspension as the 2001 Element Race and the Instinct. For 2002, the frame has been upgraded with a 38.1mm diameter top tube to provide compatability for mounting a 4" fork. New cold forged/CNC-machined parts and a Fox Air Float have further lightened the frame for 2002. The frame is manufactured from Easton Elite Taperwall tubing with a rear triangle made from 6061-T6 seamless tubing. The 3D Link rear suspension have 90mm travel and is spprung with a Fox Air Float shock.
The Switch blends two suspension frame technologies into a completely new platform. By combining a new Easton RAD tube front end of the RM7 with a new triangulated 4-bar linkage the Switch offers amazing versatility in a freeride bike. The RAD tube front end supports the fully adjustable long travel Manitou Black for. The 5" rear suspension is handled by a Fox Vanilla RL shocK. The Fox Vanilla RL shocks have lockout and adjustable rebound damping. The travel and rate of the new fork can easily be adjusted on the fly. The front triangle is made from Easton 7005 custom designed, RAD Taperwall tubing. The rear triangle is made from 6061-T6 forged alluminum. The 4 bar link plates and caliper mount dropouts are cold forged and CNC machined.
