| 07/09/2001 | Royal Mail Delivered by Scooter in the UK?Students at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom are designing what may be the mode of transportation for postmen of the future. The Royal Mail has teamed up with a university design student to build a three-wheeled machine, called "Scootable".
The Scootable is able to efficiently carry up to 32kgs of mail. It has been designed so it can be easily folded for storage of transport. The scootable has built-in brakes that engage when the postman steps off. Its three wheel design is stable and prevents the scooter from needing to be propped up.
The scootable was displayed for the first time at the New Designers exhibition that took place in the Islington Business Centre, London, on 3 July. news.bbc.co.uk
