SunRace Buys Sturmey Archer

The Taiwanese company SunRace, manufacturer of
transmission componentry, has bought the English firm Sturmey Archer. The
classical leather made saddle manufacturer Brooks is owned by Sturmey Archer,
and until now it is unknown if SunRace will also lead the control of this
company.
This acquisition is a part of a strategy for growth that lead SunRace to
compete in a higher market segment than never before in the 2000 season
year with the acquisition of JuJu componentry. In 2001, SunRace will try
to point even higher with their Five-Ten concept that will be introduced
soon.
Part of the industry has given this struggle for improving a cool reception,
but that also happened when in the middle 70’s, a little company called
Shimano started to try to fight against SunTour and the European componentry
manufacturers.
