| 07/16/2001 | Shimano Supports Signature of Kyoto ProtocolBesides being a major actor on the racing field, both on Mountain Biking and Road Racing, Shimano is also a strong supporter for an environmentally friendly world.
Protection of environment is a constant challenge inside Shimano Team. Their involvement already started years ago when former President Yoshizo Shimano announced the management decision in order to produce components with the lowest possible number of defects (6-Sigma). This economical target has also the aim to limit the waste in order to protect the environment.
But Shimano also cares for non-production facilities (commercial offices) and started a project of paper usage reduced by 20% in order to match the ISO-14000 norm.
Today Shimano starts supporting the organization e-mission 55 that will call this month on the governments of the world to ensure the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol.
