| 08/20/2001 | Central Bucks 21st Annual Covered Bridges RideDoylestown, Pa., -- The Central Bucks Bicycle Club (CBBC) announced today that the 21st Annual Covered Bridges Ride will take place on Sunday, October 14, 2001, no rain date. The ride will begin and end at Tinicium Park, in Erwinna.
"Come celebrate the 21st Anniversary of this spectacular ride. More than 1600 people, from 10 different states, cycled in this ride last year - making it one of the most popular one-day cycling events in the Northeast," stated Wayne Siefert, special events coordinator, CBBC. "We invite everyone to come and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage of Central and Upper Bucks county while riding through up to eight historic covered bridges."
The ride is open to cyclists of all experience levels, featuring five different routes and registration times:
RIDE REGISTRATION TIME 63 mile ride ? challenging, very hilly 8:00 a.m. 51 mile ride ? moderate rolling hills 8:30 a.m. 33 mile ride - hilly 9:00 a.m. 30 mile ride - flat ride 9:00 a.m. 20 mile ride - flat ride 10:00 a.m.
A South Philly Food Festival, featuring meatball hoagies and other "traditional South Philly fare" and entertainment will be provided at the CBBC Grand Finale Party. Additionally, rest stops throughout the ride will be stocked with food, snacks, water and power drinks.
DIRECTIONS: Tinicum Park in Erwinna is 14 miles north of New Hope on Route 32 (River Road). Signs will mark the entrance. COST: $20 - Includes everything and a free long-sleeved shirt for all participants who register by September 22, 2000. Individuals may also register on the day of the event for $25. Day-of event registrations will not be eligible for the complementary t-shirt.

A portion of the proceeds from the CBBC Covered Bridges Ride is donated to the upkeep and maintenance of the bridges. Proceeds also go to The League of American Bicyclists and other bicycling advocacy groups. The CBBC was recently given a Letter of Commendation by the Bucks County Board of County Commissioners, recognizing its involvement in may community and charity events.www.cbbikeclub.org
