| 08/25/2001 | Italy's Most Popular Cycling Commentator Is DeadAP news reported that Adriano De Zan, Italy's most popular TV cycling commentator, died in a local clinic Friday, his family said. He was 69.
Nicknamed "the voice" of Italian cycling for his expertise and enthusiasm, De Zan covered 40 editions of the Giro d'Italia and 30 of the Tour of France, in addition to dozens of World Championships and classic events for the state-owned network RAI.
He retired last year.
De Zan is survived by his widow and his son Davide, also a television commentator. |
