| 09/11/2001 | Failed Florida State University Bike ProgramIn an attempt to fight traffic at Florida State University last fall initiated a trial program that provided 20 free bicycles that anyone could. Before the semester ended the program was declared a failure after thieves stole every bike.
The one-speed, yellow bicycles were purchased for $200 each. The plan was for students, faculty and staff to ride the bikes instead of driving around campus. After arriving at a destination a bike was to be left there for someone else to use.www.naplesnews.com
