The shifting system allows the rider to ride places they would have never thought could be reached on a bike, and the braking system is responsible of the security of the rider.
At Shimano, they have worked hard under what they call "Shimano Systems Engineering" to develop braking and shifting systems that offer the best quality to their customers. Shimano components have been designed and developed to work together to get the maximum of what they have been designed for. That's what they call human engineering. So they can not assure anybody gets the best of our products if they are not used in the right combination.
The Shimano performance campaign is about giving the customer the reassurance that what they are purchasing is really going to give them the best shifting and/or braking performance available.
