| 10/12/2001 | Bicycles have long been revered by many as functional works of art. Klein Bicycle is one company that believes this to be true. From the design of each Klein paint scheme to the actual ten-step paint process, meticulous attention results in bikes that look like no other. Now Klein has invited the public to apply their talents by creating their own rolling masterpieces through Klein's "Invent a Paint Scheme" contest. One design will be chosen and used in Klein's 2003 Custom Paint Palette and the winning artist will receive a custom painted Klein worth over $4,000.
In order to participate, contestants simply can log on to Klein's website to download a blank template of a Klein frame. Submissions will be accepted through December 31. Eric Lynn, Klein's senior art director and paint expert, will jury the contest and make the final selection. Judging criteria will include color, graphic movement and ease of production.
Klein is also in negotiations with several well-known artists to design limited edition custom paint schemes. The bikes would be sold in very limited quantities as part of the Klein Custom Paint Program. Currently, consumers can choose from 25 different paint offerings for select 2002 frames and bicycles.www.kleinbikes.com
