| 10/23/2001 | The former Marin Mountain Bike president Matt Lyon has purchased Hydrapak from Bell Sports. The Hydrapak line of water hydration packs were originally under the Blackburn line that was purchased Bell Sports last year. After Bell Sports purchased Blackburn, the Hydrapak was separated into its own company.
"We will focus on filling the hydration needs of recreational enthusiasts in all categories. We will build upon the brand's solid loyalty, working to solidify our relationships with the retailer network and the sales reps who have supported the line throughout the years," Lyon said.
Before retiring from Marin after five years, Lyon held management roles with Atlas Snowshoe Company and LA Gear Europe. Hydrapak is shipping remaining 2001 inventory, and will begin shipping 2002 product in January.
Lyon said the 2002 line will feature new proprietary technology developed during the last year. The new Hydrapak has 30 U.S. sales reps. Hydrapak will be headquartered in Berkeley, California with a warehouse in the San Francisco Bay Area.
