| 02/09/2001 | The fourth stage of Mallorca Challenge (Alcudia-Port D’Alcudia) was dominated by team Kelme. They wanted to get the victory today, since the route was quite hard with three mountain passes in. There was a great Breakaway with three of the Kelme cyclists. Michael Boogerd from team Rabobank (currently the leadering team) joined this breakaway. The three Kelme boys struggled to leave Boogerd and Fabian Jekker, who was “the fifth passenger”. They both where faster than the Kelme racers in a sprint finish. But all this fight had no reward, and the sprint took place and as expected was won by Boogerd won with Jeker finishing in second. Kelme provided a great spectacle. Matthew Hayman follows as leader. This rookie is showing great qualities. 4th Stage Classification 1. Michael Boogerd (HOL-Rabobank) 2. Fabian Jekker (SWI-Maia) 3.
