| 11/08/2001 | Clif Bar Inc.'s CLIF® BAR and CLIF SHOT®; are the official energy bar and gel, respectively, of the United States Postal Service Pro Cycling Team through 2004, it was announced today.
The new agreement extends a two-year sponsorship deal which was to run through 2002 between Clif Bar Inc., the leading maker of all-natural energy and nutrition foods, and the world famous U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, one of the sport's premier teams and winner of the last three Tours de France.
"Every one of our riders ate on average three CLIF BARS, three LUNA™ bars and seven CLIF SHOT during each stage of the Tour de France," said Freddy Viaene, head soigneur of the U.S. Postal Service team. "Our team members love the great taste and performance of Clif products, and we're excited these reliable energy sources will be part of our training and race regimens for the next three years."
During the 2001 season, the U.S. Postal Service team consumed a total of 8,500 Clif Bars, 5,000 LUNA and 14,000 packets of CLIF SHOT.

In 2002, the U.S. Postal Service team is expected to again focus on defending the Tour de France as well as competing in the Tour of Spain, the World Cup and Classics events, in addition to the major domestic races.
