| 02/06/2002 | In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission the 2002 Cannondale Easy Rider recumbent bicycle is subject to a voluntary recall. The U.S. CPSC will be monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
Warning: Failure to observe this recall could result in steering or drivetrain failure. Such a failure could lead to an accident with attendant risk of serious injury or death.
Please immediately stop riding your Easy Rider bicycle and bring it to your retailer for a no charge recall repair.
Problems occur on bicycles manufactured in December 2001 and January 2002: (1) The stem extension can crack where the steering tube clamping bosses are welded to the extension tube. This was a vendor manufacturing error. (2) Cannondale with provide your retailer with a new no charge retaining ring and 0.5mm spacer. The new retaining ring is thinner, and will fit the narrow retaining ring groove in the mod drive chainwheel assembly.
New production of Easy Riders will come with these improvements.
