| 06/17/2002 | Shozo Shimano, Chairman Emeritus of Shimano Inc. has passed away by heart failure on 09:04AM June 15th, 2002 at the hospital in Osaka.
He was born on January 3rd, 1928 and was a President of Shimano Inc from 1958 to 1992. Shimano became one of the leading corporations in Japan under his dedicated leadership for last decades. He also contributed to Bicycle and Fishing tackle industry throughout his business career. He is survived by wife Aiko, son Yozo both in Sakai City, and daughter Setsuko of Tokyo. Yozo Shimano is a current President of Shimano Inc.
Funeral was carried out privately at his home in Sakai City, Osaka on June 17th. Shimano Inc. will hold a Memorial Ceremony some time in July.www.shimano.com
