| 02/09/2001 | Robbie McEwen wins Mallorca’s last Stage Hayman OverallRobbie McEwen wins Mallorca’s last Stage. Hayman wins the General Cassification. Kelme tried once and again to beat Hayman in this stage with three mountain passes. They started the battle with five racers in a fifteen member breakaway. Rabobank has been the strongest team in this Challenge, and they rmade impossible for a breakaway to reach the finish line. The stage’s last kilometers were for the sprinters to take the control of the race, so the victory was for the fastest one. This time it was Robbie Mcewen who won, and Zabel could not get his third stage in Mallorca. 5th Stage Classification Robbie McEwen (AUS-DOMO) Erik Zabel (GER-Telekom) Sven Teutemberg (GER-Festina) Pablo Fernández (SPA-Relax) Remco van der Ven (NED-Batavus) General Classification 1.
