With over 15 years experience manufacturing composite products for leading companies within the bicycle industry, serving as one of the largest and highest accredited suppliers of carbon fiber bicycle tubing, MacLean Quality Composites (MQC) is one of the world's premier molded carbon fiber product manufacturers. As such, it was a natural progression to venture into carbon fiber wheel manufacturing.
After extensive research into the wheel market, MQC purchased the assets and technology of a small company known for highly innovative and cutting edge carbon fiber wheels. Along with the purchase, they brought along a few of the key employees. So with a running start, MQC entered the wheel market with the intent of bringing real engineering and manufacturing experience to a cutting edge technology.
Recognizing that brand name awareness and distribution are also key components to success, talks began between MQC and Reynolds Composites. Immediately it was evident that a great synergy existed between the two companies. In the summer of 2002, Reynolds Composites formed a partnership with MQC. By focusing on unidirectional carbon fiber construction, Reynolds Composites has created the essence of a high performance rim. Heavy woven fabrics that offer aesthetics with little mechanical advantage have been eliminated. Reynolds COmposites uses only the highest quality raw materials with strictly controlled resin-to-fiber ratios. Advanced manufacturing techniques apply intense temperatures and pressures to the material to eliminate voids and other defects. The result is a rim that is the lightest and strongest in the business.
But a rim does not a wheel make. To compliment the performance of our rims we have chosen wheel designs and materials that offer no compromises. Wheels are laced with spokes spaced uniformly from one another to more fully support a load while allowing for the use of a lighter rim. We also choose components that will not let you down in the heat of competition.
