| 03/03/2003 | Trek Travel, a new division of Trek Bicycle Corporation along with Tailwind Sports, the sports marketing company that owns and manages the U. S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team , which is presented by Berry Floor, announced today a partnership to promote performance cycling vacations which feature exclusive interaction with the USPS team. Trek Travel will operate the first of these cooperative trips at this summer s Tour de France, a race in which USPS team leader Lance Armstrong will be attempting to win his record tying fifth consecutive Tour de France.
The Tailwind Sport-Trek Travel Tour de France trip will be a trip of a lifetime, featuring rides up some of the Tour s most famous mountains just prior to the pros, behind the scenes Tour de France access previously unattainable to the public and interaction with the riders and staff of the USPS team. This inaugural adventure to the world s greatest cycling race also includes VIP access to the world s greatest rock and roll band The Rolling Stones scheduled to perform in Paris at the start of the trip.
This behind the scenes trip will involve a two night stay in Paris, the opportunity to visit the Rolling Stones sound check the afternoon of their Paris concert, and VIP tickets to the evening s show. After a day to explore Paris, the group will join Trek Travel in Geneva for a 6 night/7 day cycling trip which will follow the Tour de France. Due to Tailwind s tie with the Tour and the USPS team, the trip we will include three separate opportunities to go backstage at the Tour and mingle with not only the USPS team riders, but also with other pros at both the pre-start Village and a post race hotel.
Both Trek Travel and Tailwind Sports are extremely pleased to be able to offer this trip as an exclusive look at the Tour de France and the Rolling Stones, securing previously unattainable access to both.
The trip is all inclusive from Paris and includes all hotels, most food, all transfers, the use of a Trek bicycle for the 6 days during the cycling trip, access to the Rolling Stones concert and to the USPS team on two occasions and transportation back to Paris at the end of the trip.
The trip will be July 9 17, with 8 nights in 4-star hotels, and will cost $8,775 on a double occupancy basis. There are only 10 spots available for this exceptional experience.
