| 06/15/2003 | GT is proud to announce a new Grassroots Mountain Bike Racing Program. This program allows GT dealer-sponsored teams the opportunity to purchase select GT cross-country, downhill and Ruckus models at a significant discount for race use.
Not only do the racers get a sweet deal on a world-class bike, but also a GT/Hyundai jersey and a chance to win prize money as part of the Grassroots Contingency Program.
“GT is not only interested in supporting athletes or riders on a grass roots level, but GT places a priority on supporting the industry as a whole and the sport of cycling" said Travis Chipres, Director of Sports Marketing. “With our support of racing, we want to help drive consumers to GT specialty retailers and racers to NORBA."
“We feel that this program will give mountain bike racing a needed shot in the arm. GT has always been a racing brand, it’s in our blood" said Craig “Stikman" Glaspell, GT’s Mountain Bike Team Road Manager/Mechanic. “It’s a great way for racers to bring home some cash after a successful weekend."
Racers have the opportunity to order bikes through their local participating GT dealer. Bikes available for order as part of the program include The DHi downhill, i-DRIVE full suspension and Zaskar cross country along with select Ruckus models for mountaincross use.
The contingencies have pro and expert, men’s and women’s payouts topping out at $1000 per NORBA National event.
Space is limited, so act fast. Look for a BMX program to follow.
Aspiring racers should contact their local GT dealer. GT dealers should contact their Outside Sales Representative for additional details on the program and for forms.www.gtmountainbikes.com
