Shimano has become aware of a problem with road racing brake cables sold as a repair product only. The cable end could detatch during braking causing a possible loss of control of the bicycle. Although Shimano is not aware of any case in which the nipple has separated during bicycle use.
The cables were sold to European Shimano distributors and dealers as reapir parts. The cables where sold from April 2003 until March 2004. The following part numbers are affected: Y-800 98300, Y-800 98400, and Y800 98110.
