| 01/06/2005 | Team Yeti today announced today it has added two gravity racers, Duncan Riffle and Rich Houseman, to its powerhouse team for the 2005 season.
Riffle, who recently turned 18 and is the current USA National Champion in downhill, will be surrounded by some of the best professional racers on the circuit. Rich Houseman, who excels in mountain-cross and downhill, is coming off one of his best seasons ever and will add depth to the stacked Yeti roster.
Returning are mountain-cross specialist Jill Kintner, Aussie downhill and mountain-cross speedster Jared Graves and Colorado's favorite gravity racer Ross "the crusher" Milan.
Gone is longtime Yeti cross-country racer Paul Rowney, who retired last year and young hammer Trent Lowe, who will move to a bigger team for '05 and split his time between road and mountain bike racing.
One of Yeti's biggest weapons this year will be a new downhill bike called the 303 DH. Featuring patent pending technology, the 303 utilizes Linear Rail Technology (LRT) to create a bike that has over 9" of travel, but is still very efficient when pedaling.
"Our racers have already tested and verified our new suspension. We all believe it will play a significant role in their success next year," said Yeti president, Chris Conroy. Jared Graves was more blunt, "This is the best downhill bike I have ever ridden," he spouted after a testing session in Colorado earlier this year.
Racing has long been the cornerstone of Yeti's product development and Conroy feels this has given Yeti a competitive advantage in the market. "Without our racers, we could never push the limits of our products to create something truly special," Conroy said.
Team Yeti will focus on NORBA National Championship races and select UCI World Cup events in North America and Europe.www.yeticycles.com
