![]() Cycle Europe: 20 Tours, 20 Countries Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 7 More Information No coments by: Anonymous On: 2008-01-07 The author is very rude in the way he express about the people from Europe, He talk about irrelevant things like "in Europe you cant find Cherry Twislers, but you can find Kit Kat, M&Ms etc" I think you dont need this info to ride across Europe. He critices almos every thing, the places, the way other cyclist wearing their clothes, but he still loved the trip he made ??¿¿¿ The routes are good for my point of view but all the comenments are out of the context. Also he repeat very often, "you only need THIS book for your trip dont buy an other one" ???¿¿¿¿¿ Humor? Well the humuor is American humor, very "dry", and poor humor. Cycle paths are like this: When you reach the a white house, turn right; Follow the signs to XYXYXYXY; then turn left. Etc... Ridicoulous. No maps. If you want real cycling tourism in europe, "Bikeline" from Esterbauer collections is the answer. They are German and respect the cycle way. Regards. So so I was a little dispointed that their wasnt more detailed information about the bike routes or that there were not more interesting routes. The descriptions of the routes were pretty informative and somewhat entertaining if you like the sarcastic approach - I was surprised to find out that Tuscany is one of the most challenging places to ride in Europe. Humor and Cycling, Great Combination The authors humor, combined with his obvious intense knowledge of the European countryside make for a great read! Whether you cycle or not, the humorous stories will entertain you and make you smile. Great Ride I bought this book to help plan a 10th anniversary trip for me and my wife in Italy. It was perfect--the routes, suggestions, etc., etc. But what really struck me was the humorous voice that Soverinsky uses and the liberal amount of really hilarious stories. For instance, theres a photo of a bunch of people in sleeping bags at a campground. And the caption reads: "If you ask me, nothing beats camping in Europe. Except, of course, a nice hotel room." Really great stuff. Ive shared it with friends who have no interest in cycling but whove laughed out loud at the short stories and photo captions. This is not your typical guidebook. Its informative AND entertaining. Fun and Funny! This book not only gives great insight into some of the great cycling destinations and trips in Europe, its author has such a sense of humor that it makes a great, fun read, even if youre not planning a cycling trip. Author Jerry Soverinsky seems to have the rare combination of a love for cycling, and a great sense of humor that passes along the enthusiasm for the sport as well as for the great traveling experience. Id recommend it highly. Great Read! Great Ride! Wonderful book upon first glance I did not read this book myself, it was a gift for a friend on his way to cycle Europe, but upon thumbing through, it seemed like a good informative book. Its more of a read thru before you go rather than an on the road travel companion because of its size and the amount of space dedicated to things that wont directly help you upon your travels. Definitely worth looking over for anyone considering biking through Europe.
