A Tough Review to Write     On: 2008-05-30

First off, I love books. I love books about triathlons. Its really hard for me to write a bad review about a book. Thats why I gave this book a four instead of a three that I honestly thought it deserved.

Second, Cherie is a great athlete and coach, and this IS a good book. As I read through it, some things just struck me as being not up to par. First off, the book is a very light read. Cherie covers all the bases of Ironman very well, but I want details!! LOL!! Its not good enough to tell me I need to swim more and do drills in order to swim faster. Give me some of your coaching insight! I paid $16.95 for this book. I want more than expensive paper and pretty pictures!!

Third, most if not ALL of this information is freely available on the internet. Thats why we need personal insight, technique and suggestions on training from Cherie, to differentiate from other books and free stuff!

In conclusion, I guess the book deserves 3.5 stars, and Im rounding up because Cherie rocks :-)

In retrospect, if this book is geared towards peeps that have yet to do Ironman, or a newbies, then I guess having all this information in one place is a really good idea. Definitely would be four stars....
BECOME AN IRONMAN     On: 2008-05-09

Wonderful insight from a gracious, older and experienced female Ironman athlete!
I found Cheries book to be inspirational and full of useful advice... great information or just tidbits that reinforce what I already know about training for this tough event. For NEW or SEASONED triathletes, it is a nice reminder of how to go about IM training, especially when one gets a little off track!
As a seasoned, female IM athlete myself, I am often looked to for coaching advice, and this book is one that I highly recommend! An easy
read, and a book that you can pick up again and again, reading just a paragraph or two (like when you can barely keep your eyes open after a long hard day of training), and always be inspired to keep going when it gets tough! Thank you, Cherie!
A must read for anyone inerested in participating in triathlons     On: 2008-02-25

Cherie is one of the most experienced and winning triathletes in the sport today, and holds several world records (www.cheriegruenfeld.com). She obviously knows what it takes, and she conveys that information eloquently in her new book. Her years of training, coaching, and racing world-wide have given her a wealth of experience and knowledge that is invaluable to anyone contemplating becoming an amature or professional triathlete, spectator or support crew member.
