  Air Bud By: Team Marketing Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 46 More Information Good Family film!  On: 2008-06-18A golden retriever that can not only play basketball by shooting with his nose, but can later on play football, baseball, soccer, and volleyball. Realistic? No, not at all. A good family film? Yes. When I was younger I loved watching Air Bud, especially the first one right here. This film is about a young boy who lost his father to an accident that needs a friend. Then a dog shows up. Soon he discovers that he can play basketball! And so the movie continues! This is a great family film to watch. I still do enjoy watching some of the Air Buds. One thing is for sure. If you watch one Air Bud, you gotta watch them all! If youve seen another Air Bud or are just looking for a good family film, this is definately for you!!! Good for the kids On: 2008-04-06My son really likes this movie, and it is enjoyable enough for the parents to watch with him. Movie for all ages  On: 2007-10-11Air BudIf you dont care for all the violent movies out there now, this is a great movie for the whole family, Air Bud World Pup is another good one. Really enjoyed watching this and I am a senior citizen. Wonderful Story On: 2007-07-31As a Mother of 3 little ones back when this movie came out, it was a MUST for my granddaughter. It tells a very touching story in a very entertaining way. The message is subtle to a child but very intense for an adult. I highly recommend this movie! Highly! Great! by: Anonymous On: 2007-01-04 This movie is incredible. I dont know why some people are mad about the fact that the dog can play basketball. So what if its unrealistic; do movies have to be realistic? I mean the heart of the movie has a believable touch. Even though the theme of "lonely boy befriends dog and becoms happy" has been used, its still a great movie. In some parts, youll laugh (like when Buddys original owner is chasing Josh and Buddy), yet some parts might make you cry (like when Josh is saying good-bye to Buddy). I found it to be a very touching tale, and I felt that the part where Josh is saying good-bye to Buddy was very touching and noble. Heres how it goes: Josh is very lonely and sad as he moves to the town of Fernville. He finds an abandoned basketball court and goes there to practice (he used to play with his dad all the time, who died) when he sees a dirty golden retriever in rags whom was abandoned by a psycho clown who abused him. They play together, he sneaks him inside, and his mother finds out about Buddy and tries to get rid of him. The story goes on: eventually Josh gets to keep him and he learns that Buddy can play basketball- very well. When the clown finds out, he takes him away. I wont spoil the ending for you, but trust me, its worth the money. The other Air Bud films are OK, but this one is much more deep and touching than the others. To be honest, they get repetitive and predictable. This movie stands alone fine by itself, and can be sonsidered a classic. Outright silliness  On: 2005-09-15This is ridiculous! This movie is the epitome of those bloodsucking moviemakers in hollywood! Air Bud? More like Air DUD! If I was walking down the street with a hat on my head and you offered this movie to me, I would so "No thank you sir". First off, if a dog could jump 7 feet in the air we wouldnt need Michael Jordan. Think of all the children who tried to teach their pooch how to become a professional basketball player (including me) but their dog just licked their leg and left the room. My mother came home with this movie years back, and I asked "Is it Slam Dunk Ernest?" (real basketball playing at its finest I might add) and she said "No honey, this is better than that rubbish". Excited, as you can imagine, I sat down and watched this movie. During the middle of the movie I tried to teach my dog to mimic the fantastic moves he saw onscreen, but he didnt do anything! What a disapointment! The dog was played by a dog named "Magic", and he mustve been!!! Theres no way a child could enjoy this movie after facing reality (Unless they got George Lucas to give their dog crack) Ridiculous! Ahhh When I Was Young On: 2005-08-26I watched this movie when I was about 8 years old and still remember it, It was my favorite movie back then. I hope you get this movie and make sure the kids watch it ;) Air Bud DVD On: 2005-08-17Very nice movie. Good for the younger set. No violence, lots of action. Air Bud The Review On: 2005-07-02The Movie that started an empire of B movies. See this movie, and you have seen all the air bud movies. But hey, its a golden retriever that can play basket ball... soccer.. football... brain surgery. These are fun and light hearted and worth it all. Mutt dog befriends moppy kid and show kid the light. If any thing, the brooding of the kids in these series gets tedious, but otherwise, its worth the price of admission. GRAND, FUNNY MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On: 2005-06-25This movie is a VERY good movie!!!! I LOVE how this dog can play Basketball! It starts when a young boy named Josh and his mom and sister move to a town. Joshs dad died and Josh has been sad after. At the same time a Golden Retriever breaks free from a man who beats the dog. When the dog finds Josh the dog brings happieness back to Josh. Josh names the dog Buddy and keeps him as a friend. When Buddy soon shows Josh that he is a GREAT basketball player Josh soon enters Buddy and himself into the team. When Buddys owner finds out what Buddy can do the man trys to get the dog back! Watch as a Golden Retriever plays Basketball and as Josh will stop at nothing to save the dog from more abuse. Do buy Air Bud! The acting is GREAT! I do not know why Amazon did not give this movie 5 stars! On: 2005-01-16This movie is absolutly WONDERFUL!I highly reccomend it to anybody who likes dogs,sports,happy endings,and funny movies! A boy named Josh moves to a new town entitled Ferfield and does not have any friends at school or anywhere until he meets a lost dog which he names Buddy and he surprisingly discovers that this dog is a Basketball champ!I mean,imagine a dog playing Basketball!Thats pretty much the funny part about this movie!Josh is very happy that he is know friends with this amazing dog because Budddy is his one and only friend in the town so far and he has lot`s of fun playing Basketball with Buddy!I will not tell you anymore because I do not want to spoil the fun parts but I will tell you two more things! 1.If you like this movie,don`t forget to see,Air Bud:Golden Reciever,Air Bud:World Pup,Air Bud Spikes Back,and Air Bud:Seventh Inning Fetch,which are great sequals to this film! and finaly,here is the last thing I want to tell you! 2.SEE THIS MOVIE! A nice movie to own! On: 2005-01-10This Air bud movie is better than baceball,soccer,and vollyball!This Movie is fun for everyone to injoy! A proper review for a lost soldier On: 2005-01-02KNX Radio was able to sum up Air Bud in one word: "irresistible". How dare they unleash such a paradoxical statement onto a society as frail as ours. Although I agree with KNX Radio that Air Bud is indeed "irresistible," who are they to have the audacity to limit such an inspirational and proficient epic to only one word. Listen KNX Radio, listen close, for that sound you hear is Lucky rolling in his grave. I will never apprehend how such a felonious act as this was hatched but alas it indeed was. Although I yet cannot change the past, I can surely disencumber some of the pain by giving Air Bud a more fitting review. Before I get to my review let me just include this disclaimer, because the movie does not take the obligation or accountability to do so itself. After viewing "Golden Receiver" the sophomore effort in this great saga of the Air Bud films, I was compelled to emulate my favorite actor Lucky who plays Bud by including my pet Dotson, Little Buddy, in a sociable game of varsity football. You should have heard Little Buddies yelps and whines of joy as he was the recipient of a few hard tackles. I was overcome with elation when I noticed that sparkle in his eye, until I perceived that the aforementioned sparkle was blood leisurely oozing from his eye sockets, not to be overshadowed by the bruised duodenum and descending colon, found in the epagastric region of his abdomen, that he suffered due to the game. Even with Little Buddies lackluster showing, my obstinate, obdurate and stubborn will would not let me give up on Luckys legacy. With football not being his choice sport, I decided to enroll Little Buddy in a game of dodge ball which proved to be a fatal oversight when the sixty mile per hour projectile proved to be perplexing for Little Buddy to nab, due to the commensurate size between him and the ball and due to his lack of opposable thumbs unlike some of the ape geniis which may also be endowed with a prehensile tail to abet them in their arboreal tomfoolery and hijinx. What ensued after the impact was much too jarring for words, and this is coming from a man that roved the phlegmatic, unforgiving streets of Skokie, Illinois with nothing but his hopes and dreams. So please learn from my askew and leave these actions to the pros like Lucky. If at the completion of the film you still have an enduring yearn for more Air Bud (aka Lucky), you can note some hypnotic antics on the blooper reel. My two most beloved bloopers are when Lucky defecates on the basketball court and when he mounts the director from behind and attempts to procreate with him through his trousers. Also be sure to note the deleted scenes which display a scene cut to preserve the PG rating. In this scene Air Bud is shown charging a fan in the crowd after sustaining impact from a cup of beer. If you still have a hankering for more Air Bud, you can catch his E! True Hollywood story which chronicles his rise and fall to fame and touches on his shocking addiction to heart worm pills which led to other drug abuses which ultimately led to his untimely death. Ironic that a dog named Lucky would die of cancer. I bestow this epic with 5 out of 5 stars even though I find conflict in a film with a PG rating that features the star through-out showing full frontal nudity. Let me leave you with this before my review of the film. I hope through posthumous releases, akin to the late great Tupac Amaru Shakur, Lucky can fetch us as much joy in death as he did in life. Now a review that can honor Air Bud in a much more fitting way than the one word caper that KNX Radio had the nerve to spew from their vocal orifices. Air Bud "Very Irresistible" T.I.P. (Thug in peace) Lucky, Little Buddy, and Tupac Disturbingly relevant in today's post 9/11 climate On: 2004-05-28Other basketball films (White Men Cant Jump, The Air Up There) have tried to allude towards racial/nationalistic equality in sports, but this one takes it as far as you can go and then runs with it dawg - or I mean DOG. Air Bud (R.I.P.) taught me and my family a lot about not believing stereotypes like dogs cant play hoop. Great movie On: 2003-01-13This is a perfect movie for kids who like sports and animals. My son(4) loves this movie, we also have the soccer, football, and baseball versions of this movie. It is an absolutely clean, safe, and totally enjoyable movie for the entire family, even the youngest members. My grandchildren and my husband and I have had a blast watching it together and the kids ask to see it over and over again. I highly recommend this as a fine family movie! Air Bud On: 2002-06-20I think Air Bud is one of the finer movies Disney Studios has made. Its a refreshing change from the R-rated rot that is often flashed on the silver screen today. Anyone who has helped train hunters or has been around guide dogs can appreciate the willing intelligence coupled with the magnificent training of the star of the show. A good film, but predictable On: 2002-04-21The best thing about this movie (not including the hot young actor Kevin Zegers) is the music. The story line is ok, and the movie in general is satisfying, but cheesey and unrealistic. There are a few funny bits which are appropriate for children, but sadder moments (eg. when Josh trys to get rid of Buddy before the game) and these make the movie much better and more watchable. Some smart visionary (uh huh) had an idea to completely dominate the direct-to-video market, and this is it. This is the main formula that has sinced fueled other cheesy "movies" in just a few variations: Lonely kid with cheap haircut finds stray/abused animal with super athletic powers. Surprisingly, both get on basketball/football/soccer/etc. team, animal steals show, boy is left in the dust, but his loneliness suddenly disappears... This film does have a funny climax, which is the film best part. DVD`s only extra is The Original Theatrical Tralier. Good cheesy and predictable movie  On: 2001-09-26Nice movie for kids, even for adults, if youre in the mood for a cheesy and predictable plot. I knew exactly what to expect when I watched this movie, and I wasnt disappointed. The plotline is tired, youve seen it all before, but the dog is likeable and there are a lot of gratifying tear jerking moments in this film (with ultra dramatic music of course), and this is exactly what a movie like that is supposed to do. So if you like dogs or are in a mood for a cheesy feel-good movie, give Air Bud a try. Lovely! On: 2001-08-07A movie to tell you never to give hope on your dreams! I loved every element of this movie! Its a kid and an adult movie with a sweet ending and a great message! Air Head On: 2001-02-28Okay kiddie flick starts out fine but quickly degenerates into sugary territory as the big game comes up, and the dogs original evil owner wants him back. Its sad because of how that dumb clown (the original owner of air bud) treats him badly. . That dog doesnt belong at the circus! He belongs on the court,or the field. Thats basicly what its about. The dog wonders into this young teenager boys yard and the boy helps take all the rags of him and feeds him pudding. The dog keeps coming back and back intil the question of each day is Mom?...Can I keep him?. Wonce the clown finds out where is dog is and who is now taking care of him he brings them to court. The dog is to go to who ever he does. Began calling said the judge. The dog goes to the clown and tears up his newspaper then runs as fast as he can to the kid. Air Bud by: crazylil_partygurl On: 2000-09-21 This is a really good movie, it stars the hott young actor Kevin Zegers, he moves to a new town and the only things there to keep him company are a worn basketball and an old hoop, but then he finds a circus dog, a golden retriever in his backyard bushes one day. He learns how to play bball and turns into the mascot of the teem. But before that there is a wonderful story on how his master gets bud and Buds life before that.
