![]() Bell Alchera Road Helmet By: Bell Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 2 More Information Great Value, straps so-so I agree with R.Howerton, the helmet is a super value but the side straps refuse to lay flat against your face. Its not annoying enough to bother me but some people might. Jim W. Howerton is right I concur with everthing Howerton says, except for the niggle he has about the straps. Great protection at a great price for long, narrow-ish heads like mine, and it doesnt look bad either. Best of all, I can get my size 7-3/8 dome into a medium, even when in need of a haircut and wearing a cap. Good helmet. Good price. Just needs a few tweaks.... I bought this helmet to replace a 2002 Bell Phi that was getting up there in age. Ive had good success with Bell helmets and like their affordability relative to the Giro brand. The Good: -More room for my long, narrow head than the Phi which was tight if I needed to use head cover in the winter. -Lots of large cooling vents. -Good price -The fit adjustment is simple and easy to do with one hand even while riding. The Bad (or just Not so Good): -I cant seem to get the side straps to lie flat against my face. The clasp wants to twist them slightly. Its a little annoying. -If youve got medium length hair, it will probably be coming out of the aformentioned large vents during your ride. -No hard shell over the back portion of the helmet. I can see the foam getting dinged up as time goes on. If I had to do it over again, Id probably move up a model or two to one with a full shell. Hopefully the strap deal will work itself out with use. |
