Not as comfortable as it appears...not durable either....     On: 2008-05-14

I bought this about two years ago thinking it would be a nice upgrade to the seat that came on my bicycle....I was wrong. I could tell very little difference. From looking at it you would think that the gel pads would make a big difference, but they really dont. And then, to add insult to injury...or maybe insult to severe discomfort is more appropriate...one of the gel pads fell off. They are only glued on and not very well at that. If you are on the quest for a comfortable ride where it counts, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Not As Comfortable As it Looks     On: 2008-04-26

After using this for a season, I have to say that its just nowhere near as painless to use as it looks like it should be, and very little improvement over the saddles it replaced. Ive adjusted it every way I can, but it makes no significant difference.

The way Im built, the padding just doesnt seem to be in the right places to relieve the pressure and pain I experience. Fit seems to be the big issue with any seat, and I suppose this seemingly nice seat just doesnt fit me.

The blue elastomer "springs" dont seem to absorb very much road shock, either.

The gel sacs havent ruptured (as other reviewers have complained), but I have only used the saddle for maybe forty or fifty miles, total.

Useless after two months when gell pads split open
by: kevcol    On: 2007-12-04

I bought two of these for a tandem bike. There were comfortable enough. But after a couple months the gel pads on one of the seats split open at one of the seams. Within a couple more months both pads on both seats peeled open.

The gooey gel is exposed and now I cant ride the bike at all until I replace these worthless seats. Big waste of money.
Comfortable? Yes. Effective for riding? No     On: 2007-10-11

I bought a used road bike with this seat on it, and decided to put it on my mtn bike instead. let me just say after owning nearly a dozen different kinds of bikes/seats throughout my life, this seat is probably the most comfortable. But how does it work when you start pedaling like all hell? Hahahah, Lets just say there is no managable way to sit on this thing and pedal effectively. Well, I bet if I tweaked it enough, yes, it would be an effective seat, but stick this on your beach cruiser and not your mtn bikes!
Fits My Big Butt     On: 2007-09-04

When I first saw this bicycle seat on Amazon.com, I thought it was wider than the normal seats. But it wasnt. So I thought it would be useless. I was wrong. The pads on the seat keep it from riding up my cr*ck. I have had several operations and have painful scar tissue in my rear. (Sorry for any graphics. More mature people will understand this.) But this seat helps to keep the pain away. I like the extra padding and use the seat on my stationary bike. My tail bones are no longer painful for days after exercising. I recommend this seat to all who suffer as I do and to any who are starting to use a bike after not being on one for a few years.
Comfy     On: 2007-06-14

Okay, it hurt--my 25 year old small, sleek Italian bicycle seat--my personal seat is a bit larger than it was 25 years ago or my bones more sensitive. Anyway the Bell GelTech doesnt look that large on my bike and it is more comfortable and the price was great.

It looks comfortable but it isnt. Ive tried it for several weeks and finally bought another one to replace it.
Pads rupture and comfort gel dribbles onto floor!     On: 2007-01-31

Attached this seat to a Home exercycle. We give it light to moderate use. Within 2 months one gel capsule sprung a tear, which widened and began to spill gel out on the floor. I thought this was just an unlucky anomaly, until at four months the other gel pad opened at the rear seam, widened to a 3 inch gap, and also began spilling the sticky gel onto the floor. We are not heavyweight people! The gel pad system on this Ultimate comfort seat is faulty.

Huge improvement over most bike seats.     On: 2006-10-25

Im very tiny, and this bike seat feels terrific to me. I find it to be very squishy and forgiving over the bumps--I noticed the most difference from my old standard-issue bike seat riding over train tracks. I do have a tendency to slide forward, and if you do, its not as comfortable, but if you can sit back on the widest part of the seat, its great.

4/5 stars because, actually, the little gel pads peeled off the seat. They still stay stuck most of the time, but I have gotten off my bike with a gel pad stuck to my pants...
Designed for the broad of beam. Not very comfortable.     On: 2006-10-16

One of the metal springs broke in my bicycle seat so I bought the Bell GelTech as a replacement. I wasnt impressed.
* Its a very wide seat and quite short front to back. This apparently is the design for a larger, ahem, bottom. Im an average sized guy and mine didnt fit very well.
* The seat feels great when you push your fingers in it. The gel feels nice and squishy. But...when you sit on it the comfort evaporates. After riding 6 miles on this seat it felt like I was sitting on a concrete slab with a little padding on it. I didnt think it was comfortable at all.
* Turn the seat over and you can see what looks like two large springs, one on each side. This would be great to cushion bumps. Unfortunately, they just "look" like springs. Theyre rubber disks and, yes, they do compress over bumps but theyre nothing at all like springs. And you can really feel the bumps.
* Finally, the seat looks like it belongs on a circus bicycle. Its garish and ugly and people will point at you and laugh. Well, that may be a bit harsh. I was willing to live with the ugly looks if it worked. But it didnt.
I ended up buying a simple Schwinn "memory foam" model for about $17. It was the only Schwinn model my local store had. My guess is any of the Schwinn models would have been fine. The one I bought doesnt have springs either but it is much more comfortable than the Bell GelTech. And people have stopped laughing and pointing.

Good Overall Seat     On: 2006-07-26

Im fairly large and bought this seat to get some added comfort. The seat seems to be good quality and overall I like it. I was expecting it to somewhat more padded and comfortable than it actually is.
Excellent Bike Seat     On: 2006-07-13

For the money, this bike seat is terrific. It makes my rides much more enjoyable and I would recommend this product to anyone.
