![]() Planet Bike Blinky "3H" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount By: Planet Bike Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 10 More Information Another Great product from Planet Bike! A very versatal and clever design. I mounted this on the back of my Wifes helmet. It can be mounted on either a helmet or on the bike in a couple of differenct positions. It self levels and is very bright. This company never ceases to amaze me at the simple yet effective designs that work well and are very competitively priced. bicycle tail light Although this light, with its swivel mounting, seems to be intended for the helmet, I have mounted it on the rear basket of my folder bike, using plastic ties to secure it. The light is very bright, and does the job nicely. If I want a light on the helmet, a cheaper one with a simple clip takes up less space, but then I have a plastic strip on the rear of my helmet to clip it to. The Blinkys mounting is a bit cumbersome and doesnt come off. Great Urban rider and need all the protection available. This light is bright and self adjusts where autos can see me. All I have to do is look in their direction. Use Blinky "3H" and Sport Spot together on your helmet The Blinky "3H" is great, but dont miss making a combo with the Planet Bike Sport Spot 4 LED Bicycle Light with Head, and Handlebar Mounts as a headlight to mount on your helmet. With the Sport Spot on the front, its fantastic to be able to point a light at drivers just by looking at them. Since the Blinky "3H" swings, it sort of flashes randomly without using the flash mode. (I use a separate flashing taillight attached to my backpack.) These lights are very light weight. I hardly know I have them mounted on my helmet. Most people who see me with them on my helmet think theyre great. These two should be sold as a combo since the headlight takes three batteries, and the rear light takes one, so you can easily recharge four NiMH batteries at a time. The only deficiency on the Sport Spot headlight is that its tough to get the mounting angle right with the limited places to strap it onto your helmet, so you might have to glue a little wedge on it to adjust the angle. Another great night safety product is the Planet Bike BRT Strap Multi-Use LED Bicycle Safety Light. Nearly the whole strap (7" x 13/16" of it) glows or blinks bright red when its turned on -- it appears as a yellow reflective surface when its off. It works great. Its lightweight, easy to use and comfortable, plus fits in my hip-pack nicely. I use it as a leg-light (above my left calf) for night biking or late afternoon inline skating. Having a light move as you pedal, and highlight the left edge of your bike provides a major safety advantage. If you bike much at night, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and get all three, the BRT Strap, the Sport Spot, and Blinky "3H". I highly recommend all three of them. I also strongly recommend a bright safety vest, jersey, or jacket for day and night biking. A good one can provide a dramatic reduction in scary incidents -- people turning in front of you or coming by too close. I try hard to always use one -- it makes an amazing difference -- people seem to have an automatic reflex to be much more cautious and wait for me to pass when they see my safety vest. Really Ideal Light Its bright, it sits up high on your helmet but stays perfectly level, and so its a real boon to safety. I used to have cars approach from behind and then turn in front of me until I got this light. Now it rarely happens. And a single AAA battery (included) lasts a pretty long time. Press the button to flash (all three LEDs flash at the same time), hold them on, or turn them off. Use the included velcro-based elastic strap to attach to the holes in the back of your helmet. Everyone should have one of these. Planet Bike Blinky "3H" Helmet Mount light I purchased this light mainly because it appeared to be easily mounted to the rear of a bike helmet. While helmet mounting was not quite as simple as Id hoped, it does the job and will allow switching between helmets in a matter of minutes. Its also reasonably bright and allows me to easily turn it on while riding. Overall, a nice light for the money. I probably look like a geek, but I have noticed that more drivers see me since I started wearing them; one in the front and one on the back of my helmet. I like how they tilt to remain facing forward when my head moves. Love them These are great; drivers can see me clearly in daylight. I end up riding at dusk or at dark many days. I use this helmet light and a blinking light on my seat post. Motorists always see me. I suggest a luminous vest and lights(front & back) if you ever ride after dark or at dusk. Its cheap insurance. By the way - if you ride a bike, wear a helmet. Bikers and car drivers would lean out and say they liked my helmet light, and I was using it in Manhattan, a place with enough distractions -- so now that mine finally broke Ive been searching to make sure I get the same again, cause it just plain works well. Great Safety Item This is a great item to attach to your helmet! I have it attached to my helmet and ride with it, while I train for races, in the day and at night. I want to be as visable to cars as possible. Cars can see this light from much farther away then a bike mounted light that is too low. I am always concerned the old people cant see me so I feel better riding with the light. Boca Raton, Florida |
