![]() Nashbar Special Waterproof Action-Pack 'n Pannier By: Nashbar Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 2 More Information three out of five stars This product has some very clever ways to carry gear. It has a lot of nifty pockets and ties. The expandable interior is nice also; however, it doesnt clip onto the rack very securely, and when empty, it will easily fall off. I also question the durability of the material. It seems kind of flimsy. I have yet to test it in the rain, but I trust that it will be fully waterproof as promised. My advice: this product is overpriced. Find a pack that will clip on securely. A decent backpack, a decent pannier As a pannier, this thing is large and fairly low. I consider both to be selling points. Packing is a little odd. As mentioned in the description, the main pouch is "removable". It comes with a very large waterproof bag. This is held in place by the nylon "bag" visible in the picture. The sides of nylon are open, though, so smaller items could fall out if not placed in the pouch. This mounts to the rack via the standard fixed upper hooks and a lower hook with elastic. This does a reasonable job, but particularly on bumpy rides, it can pop loose. As a backpack, things get a little strange. The panel that hold the rack hooks zips completely off of the bag. This exposes a lot of hidden straps. The main straps are adequately wide, but contain unyielding foam. The straps across the chest and hips are ridiculously long. Their configuration does allow them to be shortened past a certain point. I am not tiny, and I had to adjust them to their minimum lengths. This is the best compromise between a backpack and pannier I have used, but have no doubts: it is a compromise. |
