Used for circuits project     On: 2009-06-30

I used the generator for a circuits project and it works pretty well with little resistance, however the wire connections seemed cheap and very loose. I would recommend buying a battery powered one with rechargeable batteries if youre worried about the environment.
Worked good- priced right     On: 2009-04-08

I wired both the the active wire and the ground. I think a lot of the problems reported with this product is because the parts were not well grounded or the bikes were not made of steel. I did not use the tail light, so I had to replace the 2.4W bulb with a 3W bulb. That added another $5 to the cost, but I purchased a brighter bulb. It has worked great since then and I dont have to worry about charging batteries.

OK, but you'd better know what you're doing     On: 2007-06-17

All of the screws need to be double-nutted to keep them from backing out due to vibration. Replacement lamps are difficult to find, my husband ended up using 12v marker lamps from an auto parts store. Eats sidewalls for breakfast on skinny-tired bikes. A piece of 3/4" air hose slipped over the wheel makes it able to run on the rim instead.

The rear light is made to mount to a fender, FYI.

Arrived broken!     On: 2007-03-22

Well, this is one of those "you get what you pay for" kind of reviews. Didnt pay much, didnt expect much, but basically functional wouldve been nice. The generator came broken (probably a miswire internally). Yep, I checked the outs with a meter... and if I finagled the probe inside and touched the right spot, I got voltage. Just not externally. Too much trouble to return it and convinced my 10-year old to go with a real light powered by batteries.
complicated     On: 2006-01-31

I still havent figured out how to put this light together. When I do, the wires appear very delicate and I doubt it will even work. The directions are atrocious. But at least it doesnt require batteries, so you can feel good about not destroying the environment too much.
