![]() Cheng Shin C1218 Street Tire, 26 x 2.125" By: Cheng Shin Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 7 More Information Great deal for some street rubber Tread is thick and sticks to the pavement. I couldnt ask for more of a sub $10 tire to double duty with my knobbies. Great street tires! These tires were mounted up on a wheelset used for city riding and commuting on my Bianchi Mutt. After a season of fulfilling their purpose, I have to say they are great tires, especially for the money. For about a third the cost of the Maxxis city tires, or half the cost of most city tires these tires do everything equally well. The thick tread resists cuts and abrasions, there is far greater rolling resistance than running knobbies (as evidenced by the lack of road buzz) down the street. The also look cool. Some tires just have a cool look to them... these qualify. I wouldnt mind having a fender to ride the bike when its wet out... the cohesion of water on the essentially slick surface ends up flinging the water halfway up my back... after learning the hard way, I just take my singlespeed with fenders those days! Great tires that should last a long time for a great price. Havent heard of Cheng Shin Tires? Well, youll see the brand on a lot of entry level and department store bikes... dont let that discourage you though! There is a lot of hype and gimmickry to tires of all types. Cheng Shin makes tires for a LOT of brands... yes, even some of those well known brands. If you arent looking for brand recognition & prestige and just want a tough city tire that happens to look good, these are an excellent choice. Ok tires. Got these, and they seem nice, were inexpensive, but ended up putting hookworms on my bike. Good deal These tires are great for the price. As a functional tire to ride my mountain bike around town/campus, theyre a super deal. Bicycle Tire Evaluation The original Duro rear tire on my Huffy six-speed bicycle recently wore out. My search for a replacement tire eventually resulted in my purchase of the Cheng Shin C1218 street tire size 26 x 2.125 since the price and delivery was satisfactory. While installing the tire I discovered that it was a heavier duty and therefore more "robust" than the original tire eventhough it bore the same size rating. As a result, the installation required permanant removal of the fender. Removal of the fender was not a problem for me, but it may be for other purchasers. Those who want an exact replacement may want to contact potential tire suppliers before purchase. Based on my limited experience so far with the tire, I am entirely satisfied with its performance. I expect it to be reliable and yield high milage. I believe this tire deserves at least a four star rating. Pretty Good Overall these are decent tires that perform well on road and can handle a dirt trail here and there. They are smooth, quiet, and have good grip but they are a little bit bulky and when cornering sharply, they tend to roll over once a certain point is reached, but it takes a lot to get there. For this price though, I highly recommend them. Sweet street tire. These things are sweet they look good, feel good, and make my daily journey much easier. Recommended to run on higher psi. I weigh 185 and found that these worked the best at about 55-60 psi. Plus : - Decreased rolling resistance - Thick tread surface - Looks Minus: - Weight |
