![]() Bell EZGuard Combination Cable Bike Lock By: Bell Average Rating: 2.5 Total Reviews: 7 More Information Waste of Money! Totally Ineffective Product. Buy it only if you want to lose your bike! I would strongly advise against wasting money on this. While it is more convenient than a tradional lock in that you dont need to carry around a key, its totally ineffective when it comes to safety. The thieves seem to open this without any problems. Out of 7 bikes in my basement, mine was the only stolen despite being tied to a metal pole (unless others that were locked to flimsy structures)thanks to this!! dont waste your money on this. For quick stops only. I went through a cable like just like this one (it was a Kryptonite, actually) with a hacksaw in less than 60 seconds. It really surprised me how easy is was to defeat. Bike Protection When decision was made to purchases another bike I immdediately thought to purchase a lock. I had to get another bike because someone decided to help themselves to my other bike that I left on my personal patio but because it was not locked up they were able to steal it. I now keep my bike locked up very tight and other than have to untangle the cord all the time I am at peace with leaving my bike unattended. I am going to look to see if Bell also has a keyed lock because if you forget the combination you can forget getting it unlocked and I am not about to have someone try and cut it off. Not very secure. Dont trust this lock to protect your bike in a public place. The cable is thin enough to be cut with wire cutters, and the locking mechanism wouldnt withstand a single blow with a hammer. Not very secure. No security with this! Easy to pick by: thebook-lady On: 2007-05-13 My 16 year old had it less than 3 min. when he was able to pick the lock by listening to the mechanisims dropping as he twirled. Good for a 5 min. lock-up at a quick errand, but not for much longer. I hate to see someone waste their money AND lose their bike!$ Bell EZ combination cable by: Anonymous On: 2006-03-19 The lock device works simply and effectively. Problem-The item was to be "Free" as per advertising on line. It was billed to my AMEX charge account for $7.49 in error. Please credit account. Thank you. Very basic model. by: Anonymous On: 2005-10-16 Comes with pre-set code, you can not change it to any 4 digit code you want - although you can try to change the combination for example the code 5392 can be changed to 9253, 9325 etc but doing so you can easily break the inter-locking clip (due to its poor quality) and make the combination cable useless. |
