Bell Hitchbiker 2-bike hitch mount rack     On: 2008-04-28

Pros:
-Easy to assemble.
-Strong and well built
-Light weight
-Great value

Cons:
-Need extra bungee cord to secure bikes
-Hitch pin is threaded so I need to carry a wrench to remove/install (I dont keep the rack on the car all the time)
-Rack sways at highway speeds

Overall:
Like it a lot. Wanted a simple 2 bike rack and this delivered. Just need to do a little extra to make sure everything is secured the way I like it (extra bungee cord, adding rubber washers to the tilt pin will firm up the rack and stop the swaying).

Received 2 bike rack quickly and in excellent condition.
Installed on car smoothly and bike mounts very well.
Only weak link is the velcro bike tie downs probably will
not hold up well in the weather.
Good product for the price     On: 2008-02-25

I have now used this Bell hitch bike mount several times and think it delivers good value for the money. I use it on a Honda S2000 so I dont need the folddown feature but it secures the bike well and is comparably easy to put on and take off. Also the price is right. I just cant see spending the extra money for the high end bike racks. After all it is just a BIKE RACK. Two caveats: 1) It is important to tighten the hitch mounting bolt well since that is what keeps the unit from swaying; 2) The bike(s) will travel much better if you secure the inside pedal to the upright and secure the front wheel to the frame with either velcro ties, bungies or rope, this keeps the bike stable on the rack and keeps your front wheel from moving back and forth and perhaps hitting your bumper. You can get the ties or bungies at most hardware stores.

This is a fairly good solution to carrying our bikes with our pickup and SUV. The only problem we encountered is putting a girls bike on. It needs another bar which we purchased from the bike store. The price is right and it holds the bikes just fine. My son says to take it off when not in use as the plastic heats in summer and cracks.

Excellent product     On: 2007-05-15

This is an excellent bike rack in that it is both light and very strong. Many of the other bike racks out there weigh a ton and are just overbuilt for two bicycles. This rack is light enough that my wife has no problem installing and removing it by herself. We have a 2 inch hitch on the back of our Toyota Prius and this rack fits snug as a bug. There is no "play" between the hitch and the rack, and the rack comes with the 2 inch hitch adapter already installed. The velcro straps secure the bikes very effectively. We see no need for ropes - bungees or any other tie down device. We are using bungees to keep the bike wheels from spinning while on the back of the car. This product is a bargain.
Decent Bike Rack..Great Customer service at Bell     On: 2007-05-03

I ordered this rack about a month ago and when I received it, I was excited, but was skeptical. I put it together, which was a little bit of a pain but only because I was having trouble finding the right size socket. After I put it together, I put it on my car and found that you have to screw the mount into your hitch holder istead of using a pin and a catch, like when you hook your trailer up to the hitch. I found that you have to screw in the mount to make the bike rack secure, which it is. Just make sure you leave a wrench in your trunk to take the rack on and off, it doesnt take more then four minutes.

Once it was mounted, I put my bike on it and the velcro straps didnt secure correctly, there wasnt enough velcro. I called Bell and let them know the situation and they sent me corrected mounts right away and now the bikes secure very securly with the bike mounts and one bungee cord.

This bike rack will work for you, if you have the smaller hitch size, I have not had a chance yet to try it on the larger hitch size.
Worked for me     On: 2007-03-11

We have used this rack on several trips and had no absolutely no problems with it. We used bungee cords to secure the wheels. We traveled on a variety of surfaces, from relatively smooth highways to bumpy dirt roads.

The Bell Hitchbiker is medium rack at the best. Was disapointed in the manner the bike attached to the rack. I believe the Velcro hold downs were not sufficient to hold bike on rack. I tied the bike to the rack with pieces of rope.
Good value for the money     On: 2007-01-19

Overall quality is not superb but for the amount I paid it is great. Easy to install and use. Free shipping is also great.

The rack does work for two bicycles. The construction is light weight but it seems to do the job.

The item I ordered said it would fit a 1 1/4 to 2 inch hitch. I Have a 2 inch hitch and the bike rack did not fit secure. I had to tie it to the car so it would not move. even then it still swayed side to side on my trip. I was wondering if there is anything you can do.

For the money, this is a very good rack. It is sturdy and very easy to use. The swing-away feature makes is easy to access the rear of the vehicle.
