Nashbar clipless pedal     On: 2008-04-16

This is a pedal set that I wish I hadnt wasted my money on. They are hard enough to clip into the shoe and even harder to unclip. Dangerous situations have happened more than once. A rider predicts when to release your foot off to put on the ground and if it doesnt release like it should dangerous situations arise. I now have the Crank Brothers Smarty and love them. They are smooth and predictable.

This pedal has its own type of cleat, similar to an spd, but not the same, and not compatible with spd cleats. The cleat does mount on the shoe the same as an spd. The cleat is shorter and has a different locking and release configuration. The pedal was hard to clip into and very hard to release when set on the lowest tension adjustment. mtbr.com has additional reviews on the pedal. To make it release smoothly required reshaping the rear locking lug on the cleats by rounding them off with a file. The bearings were tight on the pedals and the bearing cones needed to be re-adjusted. I bought the pedals (the silver model) because of the low price and was aware of the above issues from reading reviews. I am happy with the pedals after modification, and will use them till they wear out.

First the pedal is painted it will look like a dalmation in a couple of rides
Second the pedal was craked and sent it back got almost full refund and got an upgrade. For the price is a nice pedal but get it in natural color
