![]() Bike Rack Rear Wald 215 Steel-Chrome By: Wald Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 9 More Information Nice rack, hardware WAS included. Nice, sturdy rack, perfect with the pair of Wald grocery baskets. After reading the reviews, I ordered a hardware package also, thinking it would not come with one. It did have the hardware package (no instructions), and worked fine. Now I have an extra set of hardware "just in case." Good rack...not so good hardware. I purchased this rack along with the recommended hardware and all I can say is that it was useless to get it. It already came with a set (accident?). The nuts and bolts that it did come with were way to short for them to work on my Schwinn mountain bike. I am going to have to go to the hardware store to purchase 3 new nuts and bolts to make it work. Installation was pretty straightforward after figuring out what direction the bike rack was suppose to face. I would purchase again, just without the hardware pack. Good bike rack- does the job This bike rack came about a week after purchasing. It was easy to install, although we didnt realize you have to buy the bolts and screws separately. Luckily we had some laying around but if you dont they sell the hardware separately (or maybe they sell a set, too. Just know if you only buy the rack youre only getting the rack.) Very sturdy and easy to mount I would buy another one. It easily accepted two folding side baskets. The adjustable mounting brackets came with a couple of optional ways of mounting it to the frame. Sturdy The product did not include the screw/nut piece to attach the front of the rack to the bike frame. Finding a way to attach it was not too difficult, but it would have been nice to know before ordering. Now that it is attached it has been working very well. I use it with side baskets to carry groceries and it has never seemed like I was attaching too much weight. Very sturdy. Far too flexy Ive been commuting all winter using this steel rack, and steel Wald baskets too, and I finally switched back to an old aluminum rack. The Wald steel rack is fine in itself, but it mounts in front with a very flimsy bracket that is held to the rack with one small screw and bolt. This is entirely insufficient, and leads to a wobbly rack system. A bike rack is generally useless unless it can be firmly mounted to the seat stays of the frame. My commuter bike doesnt have eyelets for mounting a rack, but many racks are sold with little adapter fittings that can attach to the seat stays. The Wald rack would be greatly improved if it could be mounted this way. But even if it could, the rack is made of very soft steel, and the rack itself is still quite flexible. Buy a cheap aluminum rack instead, youll have far fewer problems! Sturdy The product did not include the screw/nut piece to attach the front of the rack to the bike frame. SCREWS TOO SHORT to go through both rack stay and bike frame member. Cant be used to mount the rack! Unbeleivable pain in the A__! 3. THIS DOES NOT FIT ADULT-SIZE BIKES WITH TYPICAL MT. BIKE STYLE FRAME! The bracket provided is not long enough to reach the seat post area for attachment, unless you tilt the rack forward so much that its angled like 30 degrees from the horizontal!! Youll have to go to Home Depot for new screws and brackets if you really want the hassle of installing this sucker "creatively". My advice: SKIP IT, go to the local bike shop for something you can tell will work, and which has proper hardware and instructions. pretty good thir rack is pretty good but I bought it to fit a womens cruiser and it didnt fit so it had to be jimmy rigged but otherwise it holds my baskets now and it was a good price and its pretty solid STIFF This is the stiffest rack Ive ever had, solid steel. Will hold 4x more weight than an alloy one. The bolt on areas are tack welded so I knocked off one star. |
