good product, when they work.     On: 2009-10-13

This product is a wonderful safety enhancement for bikes, but the quality control is pretty iffy. Of the 4 I purchased (2 pair), only 2 worked properly. One wouldnt switch on, the other wouldnt switch off.

From a brightness perspective, the blue ones are much better than the red. The LED is much larger and projects light sideways, perpendicular to the bike wheel. The red ones project light toward the wheel hub.

I had to purchase the red ones to fit my presta valves, but swapped the blue innards and the red base to get blue-on-presta.

Id suggest buying twice the amount you need so you can discard the ones that dont work.
Mediocre at best     On: 2008-08-14

These only light up sometimes. If my child hits a curb or something, they flash spectacularly, but with plain riding, they dont always light up.
Light Tire Sparx are deeply awesome     On: 2008-06-02

I have a hard time remembering to turn on my bicycle lights, but you never have to remember to turn on Light Tire Sparx -- they start to flash green as soon as you start to ride, and continue for a little while after you stop, so theyre still flashing at stoplights, stopsigns, etc. Plus, theyre fun -- they make me smile each time I notice them. I cant think of anything else on my bike that makes me safer, makes me smile, and only cost 10 bucks.
A great safety feature, and fun, too     On: 2006-04-26

These are fantastic. Theyre very good for safety if its even a bit dark, since the bike is suddenly easy to see.

They come with batteries, plus an extra set for later, which is a nice touch. I havent had them long enough to know how long the batteries last, but these are important enough that Ill be happy to buy replacements, when needed.

A warning, though: The Tire Sparx package I bought says "New! Lights Up Even At Slow Speeds!", and I dont see that on the package pictured (although its otherwise the same). That might be important, since I also bought Tirefly lights, and they never light up while the children are riding their bikes. Perhaps the first generation of these type of lights are only good when one is riding fast. But if youre getting the new Tire Sparx that I have, youll like them.
