After reading some of the negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive but, hey -- the overall cost (including shipping) is under $20 -- how bad could it be?
Turns out it wasnt bad at all. Niagra Cycle Works had it to me in a couple of days with all the parts and screws intact. A few minutes later and I had a much-needed rear bike rack.
Its true that it hasnt had five years on the back yet, through all kinds of weather and abuse, but Im confident itll be OK for my sporadic use. On: 2007-08-03
This rack is exactly the same type I had on many bikes when I was growing up. it went on easily and is useful for small amounts of weight. I would have liked them to include some rubber shims to put in between the rack and the bicycle frame. This would help with both the rack not slipping and not scratching the frame. I havent used the new style racks that allow attachment of various types of bags and panniers but this one seems to work OK for small things when used with a bungee cord. The rat trap feature is useful for carrying things like a baseball mitt or basketball.
