This horn is not loud enough for use in traffic. It might or might
not be heard by a driver in a quiet car with the windows up. It is
not likely to be heard by a driver with the windows up and music
playing at a moderate level.
According to a noise level comparison site,
105db is about as loud as a power mower, and not nearly as loud as a
car horn.
I might go back to one of the dual- or triple-trumpeted horns with
the rubber bulb. Unfortunately, my last one fell apart - the
trumpets kept falling off and now they dont work anymore.
Or I might get an Airzound. On: 2007-11-21
I received the mega horn in less than 3 days. It was in great condition and works very well. I use it to warn vehicles at night who cant see me coming. Great item for the commuter biker who rides around cars! On: 2007-08-02
The Mega horn is just what we needed for our offroad motorcycles. It is compact, lightweight, can be mounted anywhere with the rubber attachment parts. It can be heard over our loud engines too! Perfect for what we need it fr. by: Anonymous On: 2007-04-04
Save your money. I bike-comute to work and bought the Megalert to get drivers attention at intersections. After a few rides, I took the horn off my bike. It may be fine on a bike trail but it nothing to risk your life on in street trafic. My first regret is buying the Megalert and my second is that I did not ask for my money back. by: Anonymous On: 2007-04-03

I bought this horn because I didnt want one that ran off of compressed air and the "ding-ding" bell I have isnt loud enough to use in traffic. I still use my "ding-ding" bell to let pedestrians know Im passing them, but I use this horn to try to get the attention of cars. I especially use it when I see a car about to pull out in front of me and the driver is preoccupied on a cell phone. Since it makes a distinctive sound, it usually gets drivers attention. It would be nice, though, if it were louder but this is a good one for the convenience. by: Anonymous On: 2007-01-04

This is a great horn. Very easy to attach to bike without tools. You will need 9v battery which is also very easy to put in. Sound is perfect for my needs on rail-to-trail biking. My only beef is it is not water resistant/proof. Not sure how much noise reduction Ill get by simply putting a light plastic bag w/rubberband over unit for rain rides but I think that it will be loud enough...not much traffic on the trail on rain days anyway. by: katumandu On: 2006-11-13
I bought this to put on a golf cart. It is loud and sounds like a cricket with a megaphone. I was hoping for more of a horn sound, but it does get peoples attention. I would give it 5 stars, but the end of the strap, that attaches the button, came off. It shouldnt be too hard to fix. On: 2006-11-12

Love it! Its LOUD and gets the drivers attention when you need it. Better then the Airzorn I think. It takes batteries and it doesnt require a water bottle cage to use.
