![]() Shimano CN-HG53 Chain 9 Speed Each Silver/Black By: Shimano Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 2 More Information An absolute piece of junk. Don't WASTE your money!!!! This has got to be the worst chain I have ever purchased. Wal-mart sells more durable chains than this. Shimano should be ashamed of themsleves. Id never put this on any bike, even if it was gifted to me. First time, it worked for about 25 miles and broke. Second time, worked for about 50 miles and then broke. I decided not to put it back on my bike. Grabbed an "emergency" chain off an old wal-mart bike and have been riding without any problems since. Considering the bike came out of the trash.... well, you get my point. Dont think that your going to get away with a good HG53 chain. This chain is nothing but junk. Dont waste your time or money on this. Steer away. Dont make me tell you that "I told you so". If you want a entry level chain, go to wal-mart and buy the "bell" brand for around $8, it will last much longer!!! If you want quality then you must go ultegra, dura ace, xtr, or Sram. Good OEM replacement for Shimano by: pbohlken On: 2007-08-20 This performs well and is a good replacement for Shimano 9 speed (rear cluster) systems. The end of the chain comes with a pin ready to drive home. It also comes with an extra Shimano connecting pin and instructions in several languages. You will need to shorten the chain to match the length of your old chain before installing. I recommend grinding the end of the special Shimano pin smooth after breaking off the pilot section, if you use it to connect the chain. I also found I needed to tighten the barrel adjuster just a little to compensate for cable stretch. While my old chain did not skip, the new chain skipped a little at first, but has been fine since tightening the cable a little. |
