Solid Bike: You Get What You Pay For     On: 2007-07-19

I am probably not the best source to review this bike. I bought the PT cruiser for a conversion to electric front wheel drive so my experience before the conversion is limited.

The Good: It is a solid bike for a great price. I got it on sale with the supersaver shipping. The price was around $140 with shipping. Looks are good with the flames and Chrysler PT Cruiser logo etc. Its nice to have a bike with some flare. I am not thrilled with the white paint job but if safety is a concern it a highly visible. The wide 2 1/8" tires really do provide you with a smooth ride on most paved roads. The 6 speed gets above average marks. Other versions have a 7 speed but I doubt that would make it a better bike. The pedals are comfortable. Handlebars are comfortable and easy to adjust. I occasionally ride in the rain so I will leave the fenders on. If you dont need the fenders take them off.

The Bad: The bike is heavy. I bought it to be an electric bike so thats what I wanted. If you can spare the extra money get an aluminum frame. The rear tire went flat within a month after I started riding. The kickstand is a joke. Even without the extra weight it was useless. You will need a wrench to adjust the seat and remove the tires. Speaking of seat the stock seat is cheap and I recommend investing in a suspension seat post and possibly after-market seat. The gear shifting is average for the price range, but the chain does come off when going over curbs and bumps so make sure you know how to put the chain back on.

The Ugly: Compared to a single speed cruiser bikes this bike is a great value. You get a comfortable ride and some good low impact exercise not to mention 6 speeds to make for a fun ride. Buy this bike with the understanding that you will probably want to make some improvements like flatblocker tubes, suspension seat post, maybe a quick release for the seat, a rack, etc. Then after a year or two you will probably want to upgrade to something with more features or a lighter frame.
Very Satisfied     On: 2007-05-24

I received this bike yesterday, it took about an hour to put it together. I agree with the previous comments about the instruction manual, it was very generic, covered several bikes but did not really address this bike well at all. Regardless, the bike was 90% assembled and I had no real problems putting it together. The front fender did have a dent, fortunately after I knocked it out it was under the front fork and not visible.

If you are looking for an inexpensive bike for casual riding, I think you will be happy with this one.
Good bike for the price     On: 2007-03-09

I was very glad that I read the user reviews before ordering this bike so when it came in the mail I had no surprises. The bike is heavy at 50lbs, might as well not ship with a manual because it is only good for a fire starter and it really is not hard to put together just a hit and miss with the brake and gear adjustments. The shipping box should be a little more ridgid to protect the bike but the only damage was a dented front fender that I was able to bend out. Smooth ride and am very happy with the bike.
Smooth, but Heavy and Slow     On: 2007-01-04

The bike is decently built and is much more comfortable than any racing or mountain bike. However, the gear system is only fair with the lowest gear not all that effective. I use 1,2, or 3 only with very little opportunity to use the rest. The weight of the bike is notable, and you pay for the comfort with the extra weight. The seat height adjustment has been difficult to stabilize since I must extend it to the limit. The look of the bike is very retro and colorful. Smoother ride and 50s look was what attracted me. My only regret is that the gear system falls far short of what I would have liked.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER WITH AN ONLINE PURCHASE     On: 2006-12-13

ITS VERY CLASSY TO LOOK AT. ITS LIKE RIDING ON A CLOUD. I TOTALLY LOVE IT.
Cool bike and easy to assemble!     On: 2006-10-26

Im only 43 and I love this bike! Easy to assemble and very sturdy to ride! I use to own a PT Cruiser car so this cushions the blow a bit from giving that car up! Amazons price and free shipping were once again head and shoulders better than the competition! Wouldnt shop anywhere else!
My new bike at age 80     On: 2006-06-19

The bike arrived so that I felt I needed to have a bike shop assemble what needed to be done. The very reasonable price of the bike allowed this with no hesitation. I have been riding a 28" frame Schwinn with high pressure tires for 36 years. This new bike gives me a much needed sense of security and safety in comparison. For those my age this is a good bike to have if a bike is what you like. Dr. Rodd
