Great for what it is     On: 2008-01-09

I bought this bike as a Christmas present for my husband. He is not an avid mountain biker, he just rides every once in a while at the parks around town. He had a really cheap bike (we probably spent $50) from a discount store that he was riding, but it was always breaking. Thats why I decided to spend a little more on this one. I also invested $50 to have a professional bike mechanic assemble it for me. My husband has ridden it about 5 times in the past 3 weeks and loves it. He says its much better than the cheap bike he had. Plus, the colors are cool. Bottom line, its not for the mountain bike enthusiast. But, for someone that rides a few times a month (or sometimes a year) over fairly easy terrain, its perfect.
OK Bike     On: 2007-08-18

I bought this bike a few weeks ago. And the kick stand is broken... I called the manufacturer and they just ordered me a replacement kick stand... Overall, this is a good bike.
Great Bike!     On: 2007-08-16

My son is 20 years old and M.R. He has a job and rides his bike everyday to work. This is his third (the first 2 were under $100.00) bike in a year and I was determined to have it last. He was so excited to see the name Kawasaki (although I know its not the same as the motorcycle) he couldnt stop talking about it. So far the bike has held up wonderfully; my husband and I have no complaints.
Nice Bikes     On: 2007-07-23

The bikes are realy nice but the only problem is to calibrate the gears, and the wheels are umbalance soo you also have to fix that, other than that the bikes are good, do change the seats ther are realy unconfortable

This is just OK bike. There is nothing great about it other then really cool design. Seat is extremly uncomfortable, suspension is OK, brakes are OK, Shimano derailleurs are so poor, plastic pedals, etc...
Good looking bike     On: 2007-04-30

The bike was delivered fast and in good conditions except for the front wheel who came in unleveled. You will need a little time to assembled the bike and fix the fork that was installed backward. Once done, you will have a good entry level bike with a high end look.

I ride for 3 hours in the city today and no major problems to declared. People will stare at your machine and the shocks and disc brake system are working really well.
"Da Top Bike!!!"     On: 2007-01-23

The only bad thing about it is the seat is uncomfortable, but other than that the shocks work perfectly and the brakes are so good that you stop instantly and almost fly over the handlebars! :) And the gears shift perfectly! Its an awesome, stylish, one-of-a-kind bike!
I am eleven years old, and I am 5 feet tall. Even so, this bike is easy for me to ride.
Not Bad for Entry Level

Ordered through Amazon and delivery was quite prompt. Everything intact and no damage from shipping. However, upon inspection it was clear that the workers at the factory put the bike together ("mostly assembled") poorly. The gears and brakes were installed in reverse from their proper position on the handlebar. The forks were installed backward, leaving the cables very twisted. Of course that can be easily remedied by a customer who is handy with a wrench.

Clearly this is an entry-level mountain bike, which is what you should expect at this price. Some of the components are great; the Kendra tires, the alloy seatpost, the Grip shifters and the front disk brakes. Other components, however, are low-end. I upgraded the stock crankset (also used by the dreadful Mongoose brand) with an affordable Shimano model. The presence of thin and tinny steel chainrings was particularly dissapointing. But some of this shouldnt matter to folks who just want a solid commuter bike or hybrid bike for touring. As another reviewer said, the KDX2 isnt made for bounding from boulder to boulder or trying to leap into steep drops or over wide chasms. But I anticipate it will be fine (probably even very good) for causual riders (pavement, roads, moderate/flat paths.

The aluminum frame is great but a bit high for folks less than 5-foot 9 inches tall. The Kawasaki manual is a bit minimal but clearly illustrated. This bike is a good deal when it is priced significantly below $200. If the cost begins to climb above $200 as an alternative I would recommend seeking out a true MTB at entry-level from one of the superior brands; such as Diamondback or Giant, both of which can be had for $300.

By the way, dont misplace the importance of the Kawasaki name. The name was part of the attraction for me but I discovered that these bicyles have no association with the giant Japanese industrial company. The name is licensed by an independent company, The Cycle Source Group LLC. I gather that at least one of their products, the "Honda" MTB is a dud, but theyve made a decent bike in the aluminum-frame, full suspension KDX2. Solid welds and great appearance.
Awesome Bike for the Price     On: 2006-09-28

This bike is smooth riding and packs great features. Shifting is easier than any other bike I have ridden. Only downside I can think of is the seat is a bit hard, but an upgrade takes care of that.
Good bike     On: 2006-09-25

Assembly is quite easy. The bike was in fact "mostly assembled". The frame fits moderate to taller riders best. Everything is quite smooth. The front disc brake is worth the extra few ounces if you are heavy and needed the extra stopping power. The most disappointing thing about this bike is its rather heavy weight at 37 pounds. Otherwise, it is a fairly good bike with good looks. Okay if you paid no more than 150 to 200 for it.
Fair Bike     On: 2006-09-23

I bought this bike about two months ago. Im using it for going to work, school, and grocery shopping. I havent had any problems with it. But if you are a TRUE MT Biker you might want to pass on this one. And if you want to use it for your daily life like me this is a great bike. And make sure you get it when its on sale. Dont pay $250 for this.

I think this bike deserves more than a star.
Defective Product and Poor Service     On: 2006-08-21

There was a click in the crankshaft that was loud enough to be heard while riding and felt by the foot through the left pedal every 360 degrees of pedal rotation.

I purhased a crank puller tool for $21.44 (incl tax), a crank wrench for $18.18 (incl. tax), and grease for $6.38 to repair this brand new bicycle.

Upon disassembly I found two (2) metal shavings, each about 0.25 inches in size, that appeared to be from drilling. I have saved the two (2) metal shavings.

I removed the metal shavings, cleaned and re-greased, and the clicking noise and vibration was fixed.

Since this was a brand new bicycle, it would seem reasonable to reimburse me for the tools required to repair it. The total cost, not including and labor, is $46.00.
