![]() Bell Triton Bike Helmet By: Bell Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 14 More Information first bike helmet that fit my HUGE mellon Every other helmet I tried fit like a yamika. This helmet fits! If you have a hippo head like I do this is the bike helmet for you. Finally! It's perfect! I have tried every large or extra-large helmet available for years. The Giro Atlas II, Garneau Robota, and Trek Interval XL are all advertised as extended size products. None of those helmets fit me. I also tried several high end Limar helmets that are widely recommended for larger heads, but they still didnt fit me. I wear a 7-3/4 or 8 hat (depends on the hat). Some of the extended size helmets had a large enough band, but still sat very high on my head because the shell was too small. It seems that I have a tall and big head. The first time I slipped this helmet on it felt like a miracle. I have easily tried on 50 different helmets over the years and this is the first one that looked good and felt comfortable. The styling is great. It looks like a road style helmet if you remove the snap-on visor. It breathes very well. The fit adjustment system is nicer than the one on my $120 Giro that gives me headaches from the tight band. After adjustment I have a little over 2" of strap left, so I think that Bell may have lengthened it since the earlier reviewer received his. If you need an XL helmet, this is your model. Dont let the low price scare you away. It fits big heads, has top of the line features, and looks great as a mountain bike helmet or road bike helmet. I would have bought it at three times the price. Didn't know there was a bike helmet this big out there I went to several local bike shops, took a month to look for a helmet that would fit. All hope was lost and I wanted to ride my new $1600 carbon bike really bad...but not without a helmet. Finally, finally, I have a helmet that not only fits, but looks pretty good too with different color patterns. The bell triton is a very good quality helmet (based on couple of crashes I took). It held up with no cracks. The only short fall was that the straps were a little bit short but not enough to make this helmet a good fit. I would recommend it to anyone. Finally, a helmet that fits! I generally try to set a good example for my kids, and riding a bike is no different. However, until I found this helmet, it was somewhat painful due to my head being at the limit for the largest helmet I could find in the stores. This helmet is great, it adjusts to fit properly with one hand and is very comfortable to wear. Decent helmet for a big head Its almost impossible to find a helmet big enough for me, and this one does the trick. I wish I could get a true road touring helmet, though, rather than a mtn bike helmet like this. Awesome helmet, prompt delivery. Item was brand new, as promised, and arrived very quickly. An ideal model for big-headed folks like myself! Very much a good find, and great service. Excellent & timely Arrived on time; fit perfectly on my huge head (hat size 8 3/4). Exactly as I had hoped. Helmet for big heads This is a great bike helmet for those with large heads. I recommend it highly. Looks good, fits good, can be adjusted easily, low priced, and is very comfortable. I am pleased with it. Good helmet for big heads! I tried it in a friends house and said "I definitely need this one". Very comfortable and good for my big head (64 cm in girth...). I am pleased that they finally decided to take care of us in the top 5 percentile :-) Hard to fit in Texas The Bell Triton is the first helmet that Ive owned that truly fits me. For 25 years in the Air Force I had to special order uniform hats. The base clothing sales never carried my size. I consider the Triton to be the best fitting head cover Ive ever owned. Thanks much. Great helmet for a large noggin! I had gotten my wife a new bike and needed to find a helmet for her above-average sized cranium. The Bell Triton was it. It fit perfectly the first time she put it on and adjusted it. I would recommend it for anyone with a good-sized head on their shoulders. Fantastic for those of us with ginormous heads I have a very large head, so buying hats and helmets is nearly impossible. (FYI- "One size fits all" is a line that has taunted me my whole adolescent/adult life). This helmet, though, fits great and was about a third the price of the other "oversized" helmets I found in the bike shops around Boston. Id recommend it to all of my friends out there with embarrassingly large heads. Nice Fit for larger Head I had a hard time looking for a larger helmet that would fit me, i even tried using Giro Altas II but not quite. Good thing bell triton fits just right. Bell Makes Large Helmet But Fails To Make Sufficiently Long Straps I recently purchased this bicycle helmet (Bell Triton for "those who are large of head") and found the fit on my large head to be very comfortable. Upon trying to adjust the straps, however, I found the straps to be too short for a comfortable fit that doesnt feel like it is going to choke me out. I understand the difference between snug and so snug that it gives the feeling of being choked out. Why didnt Bell make the straps an inch or maybe two longer to match the size of the helmet? Im very disappointed in Bell on this issue. I sent Bell an email asking for assistance with either an extension strap or the male and female buckle ends so that I could make an extension myself. NO RESPONSE! I then called their 1-800 number and asked about an extension buckle/strap and they told me that they did not carry such an item. They would supply me witha replacement male buckle but refused to sell me the female part so I could manufacture my own extension strap. (No doubt because of personal injury lawyers and liability... Thanks guys!) So, Im left to fend for myself. Ill have to manufacture an extension strap. I want to be safe and wear a bicycle helmet and Bell manufactures a helmet that will fit my head. They dont, however, manufacture the helmet with straps long enough to match the size of the helmet. Let the buyer beware. 11/19/06 Addendum: I recently found my old regular sized Bell helmet from some years back (OK, from about 15 years back) and was able to wear it although it was quite snug. I found that the straps from the OLD regular sized helmet were LONGER than the straps on the new oversized helmet. This is obviously a design flaw and now Im even more disappointed in Bell. Bell? Are you listening? You screwed up.
