![]() Pacific Chromium Boy's 20-Inch Mountain Bike By: Pacific Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 7 More Information Expected quality I purchased both a Boys and a Girls version of this bike at the same time. They are of expected quality. The Girls version required me to disassemble the cranks as the chain ring was rubbing on the the chainstay. Im not sure if the production tolerances were the cause of it or not, but it definitely should have been caught had there been any quality control inspection. I was able to insert a washer to provide proper sufficient spacing, but it was still close. The Boys version had at least a 1/4" spacing. Wonderful Bike!! We ordered this bike for my son for his birthday and he loves it. The box arrived with a hole in it so I was somewhat worried, but it looked great. The only problem we have had with it is getting the brakes to line up and function perfectly. My son doesnt care, he can pedal it, steer it, stop and especially crash it!!! He loves it!! GREAT bike! We got this bike for our son for Christmas. He is 6 and tall for his age. He is clearly on the verge of outgrowing his bike with the 18" wheels. And by spring/summer it will be more than a perfect fit. It was easy to assemble and the quality is really great! We couldnt be happier with the bike or the assembly of it. And the style of the bike has longevity written all over it since its not character themed or decorated. Excellent Value Great value for a sturdy bike. My son loves this bike and really enjoys being able to shift gears. Only complaint is the handle bars are straight across which makes the riding position a little awkward and requires more upper body strength. We noticed some bikes the handle bars angle back towards the seat unlike this one. Hes getting used to it though and itll be easier as he gets taller (pretty much the minimum height for this bike now). Good for the price Bought two of these bikes last summer for my 9 and 7 year old boys. We ride mostly street and some BMX/trails. I thought the bikes went together fairly easily, but Im somewhat mechanically inclined. The brakes/gears were surprisingly well adjusted right out of the carton on ours. They seem to be good, solid (if a tad heavy) bikes that adapt well to mixed use- i.e. able to take a pounding on the trails and able to cruise fairly well (with the five speeds) on road trips. Drawbacks are the handlebars are a bit too low (can be fixed with a longer stem or different bars) and, of course, at this price youre not going to get the best gears/ brake/shifters etc. But I can see them lasting 4-5 years before larger, better bikes are required. Its hard to find a simple five speed bike in this size that doesnt have a bunch of faux BMX/mountain bike doo-dads tacked onto it (IMO this segment needs more bikes that follow the KISS principle). This fits the bill quite nicely. great choice! This is a wonderful bike, once assembled. I felt the instruction book and the front break assembly were a bit daunting but after the set up which wasnt too bad, the bike was fantastic. My son absolutely loves his new bike!! Absolutely rIght bike for the price Have an 8 yr boy. He wanted a bike with handbrakes and gears. The Pacific Chromium 20" fit his size and needs. Larger bikes also fit his needs, but not my budget or his size. After some assembly, he is off and riding. Bike is durable, brakes are great, and 5 gears are enough for an 8 yr boy. This bike will last him years. |
