![]() Pacific Chromium Girl's 20-Inch Mountain Bike By: Pacific Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 8 More Information Girl's 20" bike We took the bike to a shop to ensure it was put together correctly and adjusted to my daughters needs. She is enjoying it. The bike seems to shift and brake well and meets her needs. Expected quality I purchased both a Boys and a Girls version of this bike at the same time. They are of expected quality. The Girls version required me to disassemble the cranks as the chain ring was rubbing on the the chainstay. Im not sure if the production tolerances were the cause of it or not, but it definitely should have been caught had there been any quality control inspection. I was able to insert a washer to provide proper sufficient spacing, but it was still close. The Boys version had at least a 1/4" spacing. Not for children 7 yrs.old This bike arrived in a box that was really badly torn. The bike was scratched and torn in several spots. The bike was ordered for my 7 year old grandaughter and it was not compatible with her hand size for the handlebar braking system. In addition to the wide grip it was overly difficult to squeeze. For the reasons listed above the bike was returned and my grandaughter had to wait for her Christmas bike. We instead went to a bike shop and of course found the perfect bike. Beware of right pedal My daughter loves this bike, and so I would have given it 5 stars, but... some moron at the manufacturer decided to turn this thing into a death trap. I dont know if it was out of pure stupidity, or a desire to save a few pennies by making all the same pedals... no, that would be stupidity as well because sooner or later they will be sued over this. Anyway, normally, on any other bike you see, the right pedal has a backwards thread on it so that it will not back itself out as the child rides. My daughter was riding two days ago and her right pedal just fell off. It didnt break, it just backed out of the crank. Fortunately, she was not injured. I just cant believe this was designed like this. Their effort to save by using left pedals for both sides will likely cost them in a lawsuit should some other child not be so fortunate. I recommend using some form of loctite on the thread, if not exchanging the bike all together. I cannot stress enough the stupidity of this design. Ive taken apart and rebuilt bikes since I was a kid and I have never seen anything like this before. For those who have not bought it yet, beware. Great Bike This is a nice bike, my daughter is having so much fun. I guess we are lucky that this winter have been kind of "warm". We miss the snow thoug. Overall great product and fast shipping. This is the first one in my list for the planned purchase for my daughter turninig 8. Dont have it, so cat really rate it, but looks like a good choice. 20 inch model rarely comes with transmission. I will re-rate it when I get it. coaster brakes don't come with transmission I understand the disappointment of the other reviewers, but coaster brakes makes use of the reverse tantion on the chain, which is impossible for transmission using derailleur mechanism. If I would have known this, I would have opted for something else. Not as advertised Advertised as having a coaster brake, not. Advertised as having a 6 speed, not, has a 5 speed. We live in a very hilly area and a mountain bike it what she really needs. I bought this because it said it had both types of brakes. I thought it would be a good transition bike. Its all put together now and it doesnt have a coaster brake. I guess she will have to learn the hard way. |
