![]() Allen Deluxe 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack By: Allen Bike Racks Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Great bike rack for the price. PROS: light, easy to set up, versatile (fits a lot of different cars) CONS: wobbles side to side a little with larger bikes. This is a great bike rack. Very secure, easy to install and remove, and the saddles to strap the bikes to swivel to adjust for weird frames. Just keep the larger, heavier bikes towards the inside row to minimize wobble. We have an 08 MINI Cooper and an 08 Nissan Altima; this rack fits great on both. Very well designed with no "scratch your car up" areas. The hooks are rubber-coated, and the contact-the-car points have thick, dense foam to cushion the rack from your paint. Excellent product at a great price I bought it after an extensive search, 5 months ago. No regrets. You install it in a breeze, stays in place even after a week. Although I have not carried more than two bikes yet. Higly recommend it Great Bike Rack Just returned from a 400 mile round trip with two bikes on the new rack. It was fantastic. Extremely easy to put on and remove, high quality construction, and very stable with bikes on it. Not one iota of shifting of the bikes in transit. An excellent item in every way...would reccomend it to anyone. Great Bike Rack Just returned from a 400 mile round trip with two bikes on the new rack. It was fantastic. I havent yet tried carrying more than one bike, and while it appears to be well made and up to the task---it just looks like a tight fit for three bikes. Once fitted to the car, its an easy on, easy off operation. I like it. Damaged my car! I bought this rack for my hatchback and am very unhappy with it. Set up was a pain the first time, but once you get the hang of it, it would be much easier. The reason I will return this rack immediately is that despite following the set up directions precisely, after driving just 10 miles with it, it put a 2 square inch gash in my trunk. I set it up and put the bike on it, but the bike pedal was rubbing against my car (it could not be rotated enough to lose contact with the car), so I took it off and adjusted the straps for a different angle (angled up away from the street more) and put the bike back on. The pedal could still touch, but it looked fine once I followed the directions to simply, rotate the pedal away from the car if necessary. After I parked and went to take the bike off, though, I was quite annoyed to see that the pedal apparently rotated back into the paint while driving and rubbed the paint off in a 2 square inch area. More of a hole than a scratch. Im guessing itll cost me a few hundred dollars to repair. This could have been avoided by putting some padding on the bike pedal, but this being my first bike rack I assumed following the directions would prevent such damage. Im so annoyed I felt compelled to review this product, which Ive never done before! |
