Great Bike - Good Value for Money     On: 2007-12-18

First let me start by saying that Ive spent days browsing bikes, going to bike stores, visiting bike rating websites, and at the end decided to buy this one. So, it was somehow an informed decision. However, i had my worries about this bike. First, there is only one review. I found this review in almost all sites reviewing this bike; so, I became suspecious. But, when I knew that the bike is made by Kent for Cadillac, I searched for the Kent model and found good reviews about it. Plus Amazon had it on sale ($530!), so it was the best choice for me. now about the bike.....GREAT! Overall, good performance on raod and off. the Rock shox suspension performes well, Im not that heavy guy, but the suspension handles pumpy terrains with the least rebound to my body. the looks of the bike are good, not that great, and i agree with the other review, the tires look and sound odd; but, you will get used to it. youll have to change the saddle; its torture, really! Also, the pedals are cheap. Cadillac shouldnt place such pedals on a, currently, $900 bike. One of them had a damaged thread, so I had to replace them as well, shimano is your best option. the brakes perform great as well as the tires quick releases and the speed shifters.
In spite of the cons I think I made the right choice.
Btw, packaging is great; I had it shipped to the UAE, on the other side of the world, and it arrived scratchless.

I hesitated to order this bike because it is a new brand and I couldnt find any review about it. I have some worries: #1. There is no clear warranty information. #2.You dont know how it assembled and how much of the assemble work it has left for me. If it doesnt work after I got it, who can I talk to and who will fix it for me. #3 Cadillac is a brand for car; can a car company make a decent bike? #4 for full suspension mountain bike, a lot of times the problem is the rear shock. I was worried about the rear shock because it was not mentioned in the specification. After I received the bike, all my worries are gong. First, there is a warranty paper that ensured for lifetime warranty on frame and 1 year on other components. Second, the assemble work left for me is very little, It took about two hours for me to put them together. Third, test run shows that it is a wonderful bike. When I took a test run on a local trail, my first word is "wow". I was very impressed how good the bike handles the trail. It sticks on the trail and makes you feel very confident both on climbing and descending. Front fork is excellent, very easy to adjust the travel and there is a lock up. Third, the rear Shock turns out ok for me; It has very little bob when I climb the hill. But I am not very heavy so it may not reflect how good the shock is. It may not be the same for a person who weigh more than 200lb. Rear travel also can be adjusted by 4-5-6". The looks of the bike is excellent, it catches a lot of eyes. Shift is perfect, very smooth. Brakes work fine for me. The wheels are different from the bike I had before, the pokes are paired and looks different. I feel they are wired so I just dont look at them. But they work fine. Now, after a couple of month, they look ok to me. I think I get use to it.
Bottom line: the best value for the money. Good components, excellent performance on trail. Rear shock is a little bit week and wheels look different with paired spokes.

I hesitated to order this bike because it is a new brand and I couldnt find any review about it. I would like to help others to make decision by writing this review. I had some worries: #1. I was worry about the rear shock because it was not mentioned in the specification. After I received the bike, all my worries are gone.

First, there is a warranty information in the manual that states lifetime warranty on frame and 1 year on other components.

Second, the assemble work left for me is very little, only need to put on the quick release front wheel, handle bar and pedals. Only one 5mm allen wrench is needed for tighting up the handle bar. It took about two hours for me to put them together. Please notice that installing left pedal and right pedal are different, one is lockwise and the other is counter clockwise.

Fourth, the rear Shock turns out to be ok for me; It has very little bob when I climb the hill. But I am not very heavy so it may not reflect how good the shock is. It may not be the same for a person who weigh more than 200lb. Rear travel also can be adjusted by 4-5-6", but you need to rescrew the part.

The looks of the bike is excellent, it catches a lot of eyes. Shift is perfect, very smooth. Brakes work fine for me. The wheels are different from the bike I had before, the spokes are paired and look unusual. I feel they are wired so I just dont look at them. But they work fine. Now, after a couple of month, they look ok to me. I think I get use to it.

Bottom line: Best value for the money. Good components, excellent performance on trail. Rear shock is a little bit week and wheels look different with paired spokes.
