Sturdy     On: 2010-02-18

I purchased this rack for a road bike with a carbon seat post and, in order to not compromise the integrity of the seat post structure from the rack teeth gripping into the post, I covered the gripper clamp on the rack with the hook part of velcro tape and the seat post with the loop (soft) part. So the clamp fits tightly onto the post, the teeth grip into the the velcro and the velcro provides and additional secure attachment method while saving the carbon seat post from clamp teeth failure :-) It works well and keeps the rack very securely mounted without any movement on the seat post. This rack is relatively light weight, fairly minimal looking, secure and looks pretty aerodynamic on the back of a road bike. Its a good choice if you dont want to totally weigh the back of your bike down but want more than a saddle bag to store gear, and you can easily switch it to other bikes. I like it.
A little disappointed     On: 2009-09-09

While we love the idea of a quick-release bike rack for our son so that he can look cool when hes not riding home from school with his books, we are disappointed that the rack will not stay tight. The quick release latch is stripped and wont tighten any further. The rack freely moves from side to side, causing his books/gear to repeatedly fall off on a normal ride on a sidewalk, not on rough terrain. I wish I could have it replaced or refunded.
Quality Bike Rear Back Rack     On: 2009-02-19

I recieved my Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release Bicycle Seat Post Rack and found the rack to be quality manufactured as it is a sturdy rack with well engineered design. I purchased this specific rack for its Quick Release System as I do not always want my rack on during shorter rides. I was kind of surprised though there were no instructions for installation but being there is only one bolt and nut to install even us mechanically deficient individuals can easily install this rack. I am pleased at how sturdy once installed this rack is. I had a previous post rack that would sway from side to side and this rack does not show this fault. I highly recommend this rack for its quality and price. Amazon as usual delivered timely with ease of purchase.
Works but questionable longevity     On: 2008-08-03

This rear-rack simply works, however, there have been a few occasions when Im led to question its longterm durability. Before I progress, let me mention that I had a cheap walmart-bike seatpost so that mightve had something to do with several of this racks seeming downsides.

To get this to secure to a non-rotating position under normal circumstances, you must push down on the clamp such that its horizontal(as wasnt included in the instructions): Otherwise, it seems that A) youll bust out the bottom bolt securing the right swing-arm and B) start to shred apart the plastic separating the clamp from from the rack and start to dig into the aluminum/whatever-alloy. Also, in the process of this racks usage, Ive noticed the corresponding top-bolt securing the right swing-arm is in a state of being twisted out of its holding. Who knows how long thatll last? Im sure Ill know the answer within a year.

Also, any sort of vibration seemed to cause this rack to loosen its grip often requiring tightening to remove unwanted rotation. I hypothesize the reason it losed its grip is because, in the process of such mechanical impulses accompanying said vibration, it literally squeezed the seatpost into the swing-arms natural shape leaving a nice emboss. It also started to bend the seatpost backwards, but this was easily remedied by rotating the seatpost 180 degrees.

Also, it notes that its "Ideal for full suspension bikes". Wonder why? Well, its probably the only option available for full suspensions beyond "Old man mountains" rear racks, but it seems that the amount of stress imparted on the seatpost would leave a hardtail bicycles seatpost bending into whimpering submission in no time.

Anyways, it works, but its not perfect. Mine seems to be in the process of falling apart but, luckily, the bolt being bent out of its holding is struggling to keep attached instead of having given up.

(Normal load for mine: 28 lbs; "Recommended cargo limit: 40 pounds" on packaging, 25 on Amazon. Currently been used for 400 miles in an urban environment on a Walmart dual suspension bike.)
Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release     On: 2008-07-13

I just purchased a new mtn. bike and I needed a rack that could handle a med. storage bag so I could ride to the gym. I highly recommend this product since it is a managable size. It is made of good quality alum. material and is easy to install. I only wish it came with a reflector. The reflector used to come with the rack but for some reason it was deleted from the bill-of-materials.

We bought this for our Bike Friday tandem it was the only rack that would fit a larger seat post. Easy to attach, light weight, sturdy rack.
Nice Looing Rack     On: 2007-07-29

I bought this rack a few months ago. So far its worked great in a tight spot when its a must I carry something extra in tow, such as extra books from the library. Official and nice looking and its very light-weight. Easy to assemble on the bike. My only drawback is that it moves a bit if you dont give it a firm twist of the screw. Im OCD when it comes to things looking perfect and lined up on my bike.
Functional Bike Rack - With some Warnings     On: 2007-05-14

I purchased this rack to carry Medical First Aid Supplies on a 180 mile, 2 day bike ride (I am a Paramedic riding as a medic). The rack was completely functional, and I used it successfully on my Canondale road bike. There are, however three issues that need to be published to potential buyers using road bikes:
1. The metal teeth on the inside of the clincher are dangerous for use on carbon fiber seat posts (might damage the post).
2. The size of the seat post clincher is wide for a narrow road bike seat, and rubbed against my legs during the ride. (not too bad)
3. The rack with a load will change the weight distribution to the rear on the bike, and standing up on the pedals on a climb will cause the bike to fishtail slightly more than normal. (I was able to compensate after a couple of hours and minimized this problem)
I love this rack!     On: 2006-10-11

I am totally happy with this rack. I have a nice lightweight road bike that I dont want to clutter with a fixed rack but I wanted to have the capability to carry some extra gear or run some errands when I felt like it. This rack is PERFECT for that. I am impressed with the high quality material and welds, and the quick release function works great. I just did a 40-mile ride to Costco and stocked up with a rack trunk (fits perfectly on the Delta rack under my saddle) full of vitamins etc. The rack was rock-solid and vibration free. The tag that comes with the rack actually states a carry capacity of 40 lbs vs. the 25 mentioned here but I would be a bit wary of that much load. Very high quality, nice lightweight rack with super-easy on and off mounting. Five stars all the way for my purposes.
